What our customers say about their holidays

What a wonderful place which far exceeded my expectations.
A very warm welcome from both Jane & John who walked me through the house to run me through the operation of the heating, shower, cooking appliances etc and then left us alone to enjoy the peaceful break that we were looking, with the reassurance that they were just next door, or on the end of a phone, had anything untoward happened. I have hired maybe 15-20 cottages over the years and this has got to be one of the best, if not the best. We were holiday sitting my brother's dog and can truly say that the enclosed garden truly was as advertised and the adjacent field where he could run to his heart's content was superb - my own late dog would have loved such facilities which in the past have not delivered in full. Mum wanted to stay another week and if work hadn't been a factor I'd have happily extended our stay - the place was spacious and homely and four people would have more than enough space. Some of the feedback for this property left me a little apprehensive but I'm glad that it didn't dissuade me from booking. The owner can only be honest with the advert and if they tell you there is no wi-fi or it's adjacent to (at times) a busy road then don't complain when you arrive to find just that. Phone signal was excellent though, and so it should be at 1250ft above sea level, so internet access on my smartphone was not an issue. I'd love to return to this gem in the Peak District

Quality, quality, quality is what you get when you stay at Long Ing Farm.
Quality 1, as your stay gets closer, Kay sends information about your booking, directions, and attractions (Restaurants Pubs & the like) this along with your brochure listed amenities and there you have a comprehensive knowledge of items supplied. There is everything â the extensive views beyond the immaculate craftsmanship of the stone mason, the cleanliness of the grounds, the planting, the thought â a credit to you, and weâve not mentioned the house yet. Quality 2, the greeting, the tour and explanations of all things house, you cannot but notice the quality of the house contents, the attention to detail shown by the craftsmen, this must have been and still is a passion, and still must be a love to say âif youâre going to do it, do it rightâ Quality 3, the hot tub, attended daily, (never intrusive) always clean & ready. The dining POD a first for us a wonderful addition for all weather outdoor dining OTHERS OF NOTE - Copious towels, the largest basket of logs Iâve seen in a rental, welcome goodies a pleasant thought, cheers! We score a 10 for Long Ing Farm Sorry to leave. Michael Croft

It really was a 'Home from Home' for the 3 generations of our family, with everything that you could think provided for a perfect Christmas.
We were made to feel at home from the outset. The Log Burner was comforting in the evenings. The nostalgia of the Aga tempted us into trying it out with some success, with initially the best baked potatoes we've had in years and then a 'Full English' breakfast. The bedrooms were both roomy and well furnished, the en-suites were fine. The kitchen was spacious and well equipped in every way. The lounge also suited us all well - again we were all very comfortable. We had one of our best Christmas Lunches ever in the conservatory. The owners were like old friends, there if you wanted them but they respected our privacy. All in all, a nice location, a beautiful property and nice people. We all enjoyed it and we'd go back.

Long Ing Farm Cottage is beautiful.
This is more like a second home than a holiday home. Kay has ensured that everything is provided! The house is wonderfully spacious, superbly maintained and spotlessly clean. We have to make special mention of the mattresses - most comfortable holiday beds weâve ever experienced! The view from the windows and especially the hot tub are stunning. We had a lovely walk around the farm, along the stream, past the sheep and friendly horse. It was lambing season and we were able to get up close to the lambs on our farm tour with Kay, and met Barbara and Betty, the friendly piggies. Just make sure to take your wellies - it is a farm after all! We highly recommend a stay at Long Inn Farm and hope to return.

Very clean, tidy and almost, well equipped. The location is fantastic with a good pub only a stones throw away. Only negative was that, on the Rural Retreats paperwork, it is clearly stated that there would be complimentary travel sized toiletries provided. There were none! This caused an issue, as we had decided not to bring our own. A call to the property contact, Louise, confirmed that the toiletries were not provided and this was an error on the Rural Retreats paperwork. So, off her own back, Louise dropped round some toiletries so that the beginning of our holiday wouldn't be spent driving to a town in search of a supermarket. What a star😊.
