What our customers say about their holidays

We recently had the pleasure of staying at a charming cottage that truly exceeded my expectations.
From the moment we arrived, the picturesque surroundings approaching the cottage and the warm, inviting atmosphere of the cottage made it feel like a home away from home. The cottage itself is beautifully appointed, seamlessly blending traditional charm with modern comforts. The decor strikes a perfect balance between rustic elegance and practicality. The living room, with its cozy fireplace, invites you to curl up with a good book or enjoy a movie night after a day of hiking. The kitchen is well-equipped, making it easy to prepare meals with fresh, local ingredients from nearby markets. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable, adorned with soft linens and cozy throws. Waking up in such a serene environment was a luxury, and each morning felt like a refreshing retreat. The host was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. They had thoughtfully prepared a welcome basket filled with slippers for the hot tub and robes to wear, they also had treats for the dog in a jar with his name on it which was a delightful touch. The level of detail and care put into the stay truly made a difference. Overall, our experience at this beautiful cottage near the Peak District was nothing short of magical. Whether youâre looking to escape for a romantic getaway, or a solo retreat, this cottage has it all. I cannot recommend it highly enough â itâs a perfect blend of comfort, beauty, and adventure. We left feeling recharged and inspired, already planning our next visit!

A review of two halves.
The Love Nest is an ample sized 2 person property on a complex of other holiday lets. The maintenance guy, is super friendly and an asset to the complex without a doubt. The Love Nest is quirky inside, but this has overshone practicality. There are no internal doors, so privacy is not an option. The main room housing the bed and lounge area leads straight into the bathroom without a door, which means at night you are woken with the bathroom light being on should you need to use the toilet. The toilet doesnât have a door either so you will âhearâ your partner in there as no soundproofing, the curtain to draw across is un hygienic , you pull across to give a little modesty but having using the toilet means you touch the curtain before washing your hands after. Not hygienic at all. The bath is modern and sleek but super slippy, be careful, I slipped and found it un relaxing at all. For safety I would provide an anti slip mat, Iâm not old and found this a hazard. We used the swimming pool and games room daily, a great addition to the complex, but does need some tlc. Overall, I would return but some adjustments to Love Nest are needed. I canât comment on the other properties, but they looked nice.

The Love Nest is a nice idea, but not very well executed.
While aesthetically pleasant, it lacks basic amenities (no firewood/kindling for the fire, no sponges or cloths for the sink etc) and isn't particularly practical. If you need to use the bathroom at night, you should take a torch because the lights will blast straight into the bedroom unobstructed as there is no door (just a cast-iron gate), and the toilet is divided by a curtain with no light of its own. The bathtub itself is rather dangerous without a bathmat too; you can realistically only get one person in the middle over the plug as laying back is essentially impossible. The outdoor lights were on for the whole night, and while I will credit the owners for sorting that out upon notification, it left us sleepless the next day. Negatives aside, the owners were very apologetic for our complaints and wanted to offer other options for accommodation, but we cut our stay short on the first night of four. I can speak for the sincerity of the owners, and hope they venture to refine this property.

Lacewood, as part of a complex, ongoing refurbishment of an historic sawmill, is a truly wonderful, delightful and sublimely comfortable retreat.
Situated just outside a little village (with a couple of small shops, eateries and pub) it is ideally located for complete enjoyment of the Peaks and Dales that spill over into 3 counties: Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire. Lots of awesome walks, cycle rides, or drives with stunning scenery at every turn from the front door. The lovely hosts at the sawmill are welcoming and generous - they have gone above and beyond to make their home and âlabour of loveâ refurbishment project an exceptional holiday location for couples who are searching for that little bit of extra something. The accommodations are stunningly crafted, furnished and equipped. A few generous treats to start our break were gratefully accepted. My first booking here was for a 4night/long weekend in mid autumn - Iâd definitely return again. Thank you so very much Phillip and Shirley

What a beautiful place!
We had an amazing time at Cherry Tree, the cottage itself is stunning, very spacious with a real homey feel. The hot tub is one of the best weâve seen, private due to being partly-enclosed and waking up to the views started the day off perfectly. We visited the red lion pub, a stoneâs throw away and that too was decorated to a very high standard, so cosy and welcoming. Hardwick Hall National Trust was really interesting, the stories from the volunteers were fascinating. Chatsworth Estate is well worth a visit too, even in the winter. And lastly Bakewell town centre, so quaint and lovely for a little stroll and some lunch. So many places to see, and we didnât get to see half of them. I would definitely recommend Cherry Tree, it has everything you would want for a luxury stay as well as a great location. Thanks Andy and Clare for your hospitality x
