The cottage is beautiful with a serene surrounding, secluded and private so just what we were looking for It was excellently equipped with everything you needed and could want And the cottage itself is beautiful and quirky However the hot tub was a big disappointment for us as we always book somewhere with a hot tub and this was the worst hot tub we have ever had in the most expensive property we have ever stayed Alot of the jets don't work and for such a beautiful accommodation that sleeps 7 I would have expected a top of the range hot tub or spa bath However it is a basic range hot tub with only 1 pump attached when it can have 2 We walk in excess of 20,000 steps everyday and usually make extreme use of a hot tub It does not comfortably sit 4 people let alone 7 A few things bothered me that I noticed which could make this property even better, as it feels like the love is missing since the award was won in 2017 I had to clean the grill before using it as it was dirty, there was a disposable razor in top of the mirror from Previous people, the tops of the wardrobes are filthy discovered when we got our bags down at the end of the holiday so I wasn't looking for dust And the artwork around the house is not from the local area but from Zealand which I guess is a connection to the owners but it would have been nice to have local artwork Overall we enjoyed our stay very much it was a lovely private location with lots of great information for local walks and activities which we did, the cottage is a stunning building and you probably won't be disappointed

Nice cottage with everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
Cosy living area and a large dining table for family meals. Nice patio area with plenty of seating and we enjoyed the hot tub. The property is part of a complex of a few other properties but still felt very private. All spotlessly clean. Pretty much everything we needed in kitchen although a couple of smaller saucepans would be nice and there were loads of champagne flutes and not many wine glasses which seemed odd. Two fridges and a freezer which was great. Great location, close to st Agnes which had the most beautiful beach. All in all a pleasant stay with just a few minor niggles - As per another review we did struggle a little as we have a 16 month old and the floors are quite up and down so we spent a lot of time chasing her to stop her falling down steps. Would be helpful if listing mentioned this, pretty much every room has a step or two into it. A stair gate to go between lounge and hallway would be useful so we could have caged her in! The beds and pillows were feeling a little tired and weren't particularly comfortable, although they did have good quality bedding. The upstairs bathroom shower area would benefit from a refresh, some tiles looked a bit rusty or something. Would benefit from a tumble drier or at least another clothes airer or washing line as difficult to dry a whole load. All minor things really which didn't detract from an enjoyable stay

Five Elements Cottage is a nice property in a great location, handy for many places.
It has a lovely kitchen and bathrooms. However, some more details of the layout and a floor plan on the website would be useful. For instance, it would be good to know that the utility (where the freezer is located) is at the opposite end of the cottage to the kitchen, and that the ground floor bathroom is not near any bedroom (including the ground floor twin, which is directly off the living room). The stairs are steep and there are steps up or down- some of them high- to access every room, as all the rooms are on different levels. Also, there is a long flight of shallower steps plus 5 steep steps down to the front door from the car park, which makes moving heavy luggage a real task. None of this is really clear from the description. I donât think this cottage would be suitable for those with reduced mobility, as even the ground floor bedroom and bathroom are both down two steps from the living room. It would be great to have a welcome folder in the cottage with recommendations for local eating, places to drink etc, and instructions for the various appliances. This is the first place we have stayed that hasnât had such a folder. Also, the hot tub is a great addition, but all of the jets do not appear to be working, so it maybe needs servicing.

We had a very enjoyable week at Holly Tree House.
On arrival the property was spotlessly clean and some refreshments had been left for us which were much appreciated. The beds were very comfortable as was the lounge and the kitchen was equipped with everything one would need for a self-catering holiday with hot water always available. The only thing one needs to remember to bring is a Tea Towel. The shops and seafront were about a 10 min walk and we enjoyed Fish & Chips and a Chinese takeaway during our stay and had delicious tea and cake at Makcaris at the Bandstand in Herne Bay. There is a well stocked Morrisons and an ALDI in the town plus a Tesco Express very close to the property. We used Holly Tree House as a base to walk some of the Saxon Shore Way and visited Sheerness, Whitstable, Birchington, Westgate, Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate during our stay. We travelled to Herne Bay by train and Holly Tree House was in a most convenient location, being about a 6 min walk from the train station and the local buses stopped nearby too. We travelled on the trains most days and found them to be punctual and reliable but maybe we were just lucky! We hope to return to Holly Tree House again one day. Thank You very much to the owners.

The cottage and its facilities are absolutely fantastic, we really enjoyed the hot tub, huge kitchen for food prep and barbecue.
The beds were fantastic and comfortable for a decent night's sleep and the location is very central, close to local amenities and the A30 to get to different towns. On the other hand we were disappointed by the delayed responsiveness of the host as sometimes it would take more than a day for them to get back to us for requests especially as we had infants with us. The house needed additional cleaning, we found a half eaten dog bowl under the sofa and there a stagnant smell of dog in the sofa with hairs sticking to clothes after sitting there. The bathroom door upstairs could have done with a lock too. The steps going down to the property are stoned and pose a health risk as some of us lost grip on a few occasions. Watch out for low ceilings too in some places! On the whole it was a lovely stay however feedback to the host/property owners would be to be more accessible and follow up when checking in just to make sure guests have what they need. The house is lovely and the additional touch of service going above and beyond would be icing on the cake.
