What our customers say about their holidays
Lauren - Verified booking
Me and my boyfriend stayed here at Mountain View for 2 nights on Easter bank holiday 2021.
It was the first time we had been away on a holiday since November 2019, before the world became engulfed by Covid-19. On arrival, there weren't any signposts for the site itself, nor was there any to indicate where our particular pod was. But it didn't take us long to drive around a little before we managed to find it. The hot tub was heated ready for our arrival and was beautiful to sit in with a glass of prosecco watching the sun go down over the mountains. The pod was clean and comfortable and had a hand sanitiser attached to the wall outside which was handy. The patio/garden area was really spacious and would be lovely for BBQ season at summertime! The only 2-3 negatives about our pod was that the shower was scorching hot and we couldn't stay in there for more than 3 minutes because it was so hot :( and the bathroom door didn't shut properly and didn't have a lock. Also there were no instructions on how to switch on the outdoor lights and we couldnt figure out how to turn them on (this didn't really matter much as the hot tub had lights so we put those on but would have been nice to have the outdoor lights on too). We didn't mind these issues so much as they were only minor - it didn't affect our enjoyment of the stay. It was peaceful, no traffic, everyone who was on site was quiet and the pods are spaced out generously. On our full day there, we went for a long walk along the resoirvoir at Elan Valley and that is an absolute must see!! I wish I could post a photo to show you the views it was beautiful!! Also the little town of Rhayader which is the oldest town in Mid Wales is literally a 4 minute drive away with good access for parking. It was an amazing few days away and it was the most relaxed we had felt in a longggg time, since before Covid-19! Thank you for a lovely weekend and we are already looking to book again! :)

We were looking forward to having a break away from it all in complete privacy having seen the photographs and checking on the fencing situation as we have a dog who is over- friendly.
When we arrived Keith asked a lady by the farm type buildings and machinery where we might find Poppy. She did not engage in any welcoming conversation just told us it was the second one along. The huts are attractive but the view from the back window was awful and a tractor with some sort of scraper was going backwards and forwards scraping rainwater from the ground for quite some time. The photographs are also very misleading, we realised they must have been taken with a fish-eye lense as the hut and the garden area were very much smaller and the other huts much closer than we thought. There was a âGuests informationâ booklet but this did not give any information about how to use the shower, the heating, the hob or the tv. A Guest book was provided for guests to write their feedback but I found it a little suspicious, considering the above that it was a loose leaf book, with only glowing reviews. Although it was thoughtful to provide a small bottle of milk and coffee, tea and sugar, it would be a good idea to provide condiments and cooking/olive oil too. We enjoyed our break due to the places we visited and the views of the hills and sheep but the experience could have been so much better with some friendliness and thoughtfulness from the hosts.

The site managers were lovely especially the male, both were approachable and friendly.
The accommodation was warm and comfortable. There were no accessible hoover, brush or mop to be able to clean. We took our dog and it would have been nice to have been able to clean the floor after our walks. The Hot tub smelled very strong of cloreen that it stung our eyes, we even told them not to attend to it for the last 2 days. During our week stay we only used the Hot tub 3 times which was part of the reason for booking that location. When the jets were on in the Hot tub black bits came out and were floating about, we even had to buy a net to try to clean the black bits out. When we arrived we were informed that the games room and bar area was closed. This was disappointing as we had two 12 year olds with us who was looking forward to the games room. We were left a folder with how to work things in the accommodation, however the Wifi code never worked to either of the log ins given resulting in two very board children. The Sky TV was our saving although this was still limited. The log fire was lovely but again there were nothing to light it with and we had to go a purchase a lighter to light it.

My family and I enjoyed a charming, private lodge nestled in lush vegetation for a week.
The staff were friendly and always ready to assist, and the host maintained excellent communication throughout our stay. Unfortunately, we faced significant setbacks during our stay. We chose the property for its Wi-Fi, but it was completely non-functional, impeding our remote work. The lack of signal on our mobile phones compounded the issue. Despite connectivity challenges, we relished the natural surroundings for outdoor activities. The TV didn't work either, limiting our entertainment options. We missed access to TV channels and streaming services like Netflix, which was a letdown, especially for our 16-year-old daughter. One improvement we would suggest is providing essential kitchen items such as salt, pepper, and cooking oil at the property. It would have been convenient to have these basics on hand, especially when arriving after a long journey, to prepare a simple meal without the need to make a trip back into town. In summary, despite connectivity issues and the lack of kitchen basics, the lodge's beautiful location and the relaxing hot tub were the highlights of our stay.
