What our customers say about their holidays

We had a wonderful fortnight stay at Ralston Bothy.
The cottage was clean and practical with a lovely kitchen that had such wonderful natural light! The Bothy, garden and orchard were perfect for our old dog, who could roam securely and sleep under the apple trees as she wanted. We topped up the feeders religiously( such a lovely touch to leave bird feed for us to use) and were rewarded with an abundance of birds and a visiting rabbit. Even a kestrel came and made an appearance in the garden, although the house martins weren't happy about it! The hot tub was a sublime luxury. Perfectly positioned so that it was completely private, we used it daily! Located perfectly for a day trip to Dundee to see 'Discovery' and the V&A museum and also to visit the wonderful Glamis Castle and to do the spectacular Snow Roads Scenic Route through Balmoral etc-a very long drive but the most stunning driving route ever and so worth doing. Laura-Jayne was a very considerate host. She completely respected our privacy, which we valued but was quickly contactable if necessary. The only thing wrong was not being able to stay longer! Thank you for a much needed relaxing and nourishing break, Laura-Jayne.

Weren't told that the swimming pool was unavailable until we got there.
We tried to fire up the hot tub and followed the instructions. We were told that it took 30 minutes to heat up, we checked after 30,45 and 1 hour but the water was stone cold. This basically meant sitting watching TV for 2 days which we could do at home, we decided to head home and the co owner agreed to refund us £200. We were advised that his wife would contact us to arrange this later that day, no one phoned, I called back the following day and spoke to her son who said he would get his mother to call us we are still waiting. We were contacted by Sykes who said the refund had been removed and we could have 2 nights free, given that the owner didn't have the courtesy to call us we rejected their offer. Sykes basically stated that there was nothing else they would do and when I requested their CEO email address again I didn't get the courtesy of a response. Wouldn't use them again and will ensure that none of my family and friends do either. Case of we have your money and don't care. Can I also point out that the swimming pool is still showing as available on Sykes site- False advertising.

An absolutely fabulous place to stay.
Everything has been well thought out with all mod cons. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you need for your stay. Lots of lovely little extras when we got there, not going to spoil it for others who have booked. Very comfortable beds. Easy to work shower. Privacy blinds if you want them, blackout in the bedroom. Beautiful and relaxing with a friendly owner and their family who couldn't have done more to make our stay amazing. Wonderful easy to access swim spa and hot tub that was extremely clean just like everything else. Plenty to see locally, The Whisky Trail, the castles, shopping and countryside walks as well as quiet evenings watching the sun set. Beaches at Lossiemouth and beyond. Wildlife in abundance. Many thanks, we will be back.

A lovely cosy cottage which is in a great spot, very private.
The owner was there if needed but not intrusive and very friendly. Loved the garden with all the birds and of course the hot tub which after a walk on a winters day was perfect. The little touches make such a difference and shows thoughtfulness for eg: the flowers, bread, milk etc. It was exceptionally clean and tidy. Nice large bathroom with excellent shower and very hot water. Beautiful log burner which on a winters night was perfect. The only negative and it's not too important is, could do to have a slightly larger T.V. Because we were there in February it was nice to watch T.V in the evening. But probably in summer would be out in the garden or walking. It's handy for lots of surrounding walking, places to visit and Dundee. Would definitely come back!

The property was as described and we enjoyed our stay.
We didnât use the hot tub and perhaps this should be offered as an option so that if it is not used, the cost of making it available is saved. We noted the request to keep the bathroom ventilated and quickly understood why as we had some wet weather and the atmosphere outside was noticeably damp to us. Perhaps the bathroom should have an independent electric radiator that can be left on when the rest of the heating is not needed, just a thought. It is a lovely property and suited our needs well. The area has a lot to offer and we had no difficulty filling our days. The area is generally quite flat and the side roads are well signed for walking and cycling. There is good information in the Bothy about local walking and cycling routes. Recommended.
