What our customers say about their holidays

Unfortunately we didn't receive a very warm welcome.
We booked the cottage in Jan and it was listed as dog friendly so we booked and paid for our small dog to come too. When I called to get key info the day before our arrival the owner said it would be ready for 4 and they would be in the door. (listing said ready for 3, but hey ho). She said she was busy and would come to see us on Mon morning. We arrived just after 4 and had just un packed the car when the owner turned up. On seeing our dog who was just sniffing around getting her bearings, the owner proceeded to tell us dogs not allowed in the bedrooms, hadn't we read their policy, had we brought blankets to cover the furniture at which point I said she doesn't go on the furniture. She then proceeded to tell us how much damage people and their dogs had caused and that was why she was no longer a dog friendly accommodation. All this time she stood with the patio door open, I asked twice if she wouldn't mind closing it so that our dog couldn't get out as the large gate onto the road was open. This was ignored and so I had to take my dog into the kitchen. We didn't receive any instructions on how to operate equipment at the property or how to find the badger cam that we'd read about. No friendly recommendations of nice places to go. The only info shared was negativity about our dog and how we must shower before using the hot tub. Just as well it is no longer dog friendly as the fields surrounding the cottage were beautiful and full of animals, but unfortunately no pavements on the road and no paths explained or found where we could walk the dog. On another subject we found it odd that there was a full sized dishwasher but only 4 cups, 4 plates 4 bowls 4 side plates. Very nice that the crockery was Denby, but again a negative note in the cupboard warning that any chips or cracks would be chargeable. Even worse that the kitchen sink was pot. Simple white crockery in abundance would have been preferable and more conducive to a relaxing break. We felt she had her priorities wrong and would have appreciated settees with more comfortable and supportive cushions. One of the seats in the jacuzzi was brown and the plastic coating was peeling off so we couldn't use it. It would have been helpful if there had been a folder with information about how to take the cover off the jacuzzi, how to turn it on and off, information about the area, the WiFi code, how to control the heating, restaurants to go to, the badger cam etc. Instead we were insulted and made to feel uncomfortable, tarred with a brush meant for others who had previously caused damage.

The Shepherds Hut was fabulous!
It's position on the farm is great with private garden area and parking. Its been very nicely converted and was really comfortable and cosy. Having the log burner indoors was perfect but we also appreciated the electric kettle for a quick cuppa! The gas BBQ is great as was the toasty shower. We added breakfast and BBQ packs and the contents were delicious. Our labrador pup loved the Shetland ponies and the sheep right beside us - even when the ponies decided to moonlight laps around their field!! The hut is really well equipped and kitted out - the only suggestions we had was perhaps a hook on the inside of the door for coats and something heavy or a hook to hold the door open coz the boot rack stops the door going all the way back to the original hook. The outdoor light and solar lights around the path were perfect for evening - and the torch was appreciated too - but the dark skies were perfect for watching the stars. We explored the whole area and found lots of great walks, swims and places to eat!

We booked a staycation this year and I came across these beautiful lodges as we had plans too visit busy Edinburgh that weekend we thought we would try a few days here and we were so glad we did!
The lodges are beautiful and so well appointed with everything you need too have a relaxing few days. On arrival the fridge was stocked with a lovely bottle of Prosecco and some local goodies which was a lovely touch! The robes and slippers were a lovely addition too! The lodge itself was extremely comfortable I donât sleep great in other beds but I slept like a baby! The boys loved the open space and of course the hot tub with incredible views over the Lochmaben area! The hosts were great and well informed of places we could visit the Galloway Activity Centre being one of them our boys absolutely loved it! All in all a beautiful place would highly recommend and would love too visit again maybe with extended family! Thanks for a lovely stay! Caroline Jamie Ryan & Dylan (HUGHES FAMILY)

The Dairy Cottage is in a beautiful location, surrounded by great views over rolling countryside.
The setting really is stunning. Being down the lane from a working farm was great, our 3yr old enjoyed watching all the animals and tractors. The cottage itself was spotless, well equipped and all the interiors are finished to a high standard. The hot tub is a great addition and we took full advantage of the dark skies by stargazing as we relaxed in the tub. Our hosts were amazing, really couldn't have asked for more. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was one to remember. We will definitley be back and will be recommending the Dairy to our friends and family. Cant wait to come again and enjoy this beautiful place. We loved every minute.

We have just had the most amazing stay at Laird Lodges.
I thought it looked gorgeous in the photos when we booked but it was even better in real life! The pod with hot tub was perfect. Everything was really clean and well thought out as well as being really tastefully furnished. The views are stunning especially when your viewpoint is from the hot tub or the large egg chair ! We used the BBQ a couple of times which was great and enjoyed chatting to other guests up at the fire pit. The bed and sofa bed were really comfy and we slept really well. Angie was so friendly, helpful and accommodating. Already thinking about booking out all 5 pods for our extended family!
