  The owners were very helpful and available when we called or texted them.

  The cottage was clean. The location of the cottage is within a shared area with neighbouring cottages and hot tub and a swimming pool. The cottage was very nice for a short stay however few improvements needed. - Provide guides/instructions for the property (we didn’t notice there was a freezer at the back of the kitchen counters until the end of our trip) - The heating was not working. It was very cold the first night as we only had one electric heater. After asking the owners we noticed there was a spare fan heater. - The cottage could do with a coffee table by the sofas for when you want to watch TV and eat. - Pathways to the cottage could do with some lights as it gets very dark in the evening and it is a long walk from the entrance of the property. Having to use mobile flash light can be difficult when you have bags to carry. - We were expecting there to be basics like salt/pepper/sugar/milk but none was provided given the price we paid for the stay. However basic kitchenware provided.

  Wow!! What can we say

  ? My wife and I really needed a quiet break for a couple of days after a very bumpy 3 months. Deer View provided the perfect place for us to spend some `us` time and chill out. Susan was the perfect host to us and on arrival showed us round. She was meticulous in her planning and management of her holiday let, right down to a big binder full of lots of places to go and things to do, her gift of her simply awesome fruit cake, to her cleaning regime, with the place truly spotless. All of the furnishings and utensils are brand new and are of quality, and not cheap rubbish as some do, showing respect for her guests. This part of England we are not too familiar with, is just beautiful and so quiet and peaceful, so ticked all of the boxes Our 3 nights and 2 days seemed to pass too quickly, but we would love to return..   Spectacular views

  We rented the Studio which flows into the main property so that our family of seven adults could spend a long weekend together. The building is meticulously planned with a beautiful bathroom for each bedroom. There are several seating areas so one can enjoy different views in peace. The home is stylishly decorated and is spacious, light and very comfortable with spectacular views straight onto cornfields beyond its own delightful ‘prairie’ garden. The kitchen is well equipped and great to prepare meals to enjoy in the spacious dining area. Lewes Barn is only 75 minutes from London yet it felt a world away; and so easy to get to Charleston, Lewes, Saltdean Lido, Rottingdean and the beautiful South Downs and wonderful to get back and enjoy a dip in the hot tub or a drink on the upper terrace before supper. We would happily have stayed much longer.

  My husband and I were visiting family in the area and Deer View was a convenient location.

  Richard and Susan were very welcoming on our arrival and easily contactable by phone during our stay, if required. The property was spotlessly clean and extremely well equipped, with lovely touches throughout and plenty of storage. The open plan nature of the property and the fact that it was all on one level were ideal. My husband has dementia and likes to know where I am at all times as well has having some mobility issues. There are 2 small steps from the parking area up to the property but the handrail made them easy to manage. The hot tub was a lovely way to relax after playing with the grandchildren, and seeing the deer in the morning whilst having breakfast was a treat. We hope to return soon.

  We ended up staying in the owner’s other property ‘Tree Tops’ above ‘Deer View’.

  I would definitely recommend staying at one of these properties. The hosts were really accommodating and attentive. The cleanliness was immaculate, the bed was one of the comfiest I’ve used, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was really peaceful as the property is on its own with no surrounding houses other than the owners. I liked the small touches, such as the homemade fruitcake and they went out of their way to make sure we had an enjoyable stay. The lodge had games, a manual with places to visit, instructions for the appliances and we were lucky enough to spot some baby deer in the garden, which we could see up close with the binoculars provided. Thank you again for a really nice stay!
