What our customers say about their holidays
Sean - Verified booking
The house has such great potential, however we had several issues during our stay, and some positives too.
1) The dishwasher was broken, we were told when we arrived - as 3 families (11 people) this wasn't ideal, it was a lot of extra time washing dishes on a supposed luxury break, I know these things can't be helped, but it was not replaced until literally the morning we left (the irony!) this could have been resolved much sooner. 2) The hot tub was freezing cold for the first 24 hours, we were told it was due to it being 'cleaned' yet no other lodge we have stayed at had this problem, it was also never inspected for the entire week we were there, other lodges have someone come every morning to check the ph levels etc, which may have caused our illness (see further down). 3) The house was not cleaned to a satisfactory standard, firstly, let me say the main cleaner was absolutely wonderful, a lovely lady who tried her best, but that property is too much for one cleaner, you need a couple of cleaners to really properly clean it, the wooden floor was dirty, the sofa had a musty smell (why fabric sofa's in a lodge? Surely get leather easier to clean!) Positives; 1) The tennis court is brilliant, as are the swings/play area for the kids, clean and just a really good area, fresh air, no need for video game consoles! 2) The staff on site, particularly the main cleaner, and the lady in the main office who kept informing us of the dishwasher situation, she also sent the cleaner to clean the lodge when we mentioned the issue. 3) 2 Bottles of wine on arrival, very nice touch, and very nice wine. 4) Beds were comfortable, showers were powerful, rooms were huge. Unfortunately, out of 11 of us, 9 of us were sick during and following the stay, the children from the early part of the stay, later moving on to the adults - whilst we can't exactly pinpoint what caused it, we have our suspicions it was related to the hot tub cleanliness. When all is said and done, would we go back there? Probably not.

The property itself is fantastic.
A very modern barn conversion in a lovely location. Beds were very comfortable although I think an option for a harder pillow is necessary for those with that preference. There was no way of cleaning the toilets during our stay. On arrival, the property seemed unclean, lots of dust and cobwebs in easily accessible areas. There was dirty washing in the dishwasher, presumably from previous guests. Windows werenât very clean at all. Pool table was slanted despite this being a major selling point for the property, so a bit disappointed with that although I did not stop us from using it each night. Lighting wasnât great above the table and sometimes it was hard to see which ball was which colour (mainly when playing snooker). Hot tub is great. Although, with it being wood fired it takes time to heat up. This is not always possible with days out etc and by the time it has heated, it would be pushing well into the night. I know this is not the case for everybody. Have to say that the maintenance team were great as there were a couple of issues during our stay which were fixed straight away. Communication with them via e-mail was quick and easy. Lots of flies at the property which is understandable as it is on a working farm. The fly spray provided did not quite cut it unfortunately. I think this needs looking at (if possible). I hope this feedback helps in the future. Thanks again for our stay :)

House was very clean and well equipped.
We went away with our children and grandchildren so there were 10 of us. The bedrooms weâre comfortable and spacious (4 with en suite). The lounge area didnât have enough sofas for 10 people and meant some had to use the large footstool and dining chairs which werenât ideal. The house is close to Dartmouth and has lovely views from 2 of the bedrooms. We were told the pool and childrenâs play area was out of use due to COVID situation but on arrival it was clear the childrenâs playground was out of use due to the building works being undertaken so that wasnât so good. The hot tub had constant warm water that was cleaned daily. Tennis court was good and readily available for use. The house has a small decking area and no garden which we didnât realise so that made it difficult for the grandchildren to run around freely. Would have been a nice touch for a small shop to get early morning milk, bread & eggs etc, but local supermarket a short drive away. House is well situated for a quiet peaceful holiday or short drive will take you to local towns, beaches and places of interest.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Garden House and the team were very helpful.
The swimming pools and grounds are beautiful and we loved making use of them. Regarding the house, it was very comfortable, but we felt there could be improvements. Problems we had during the stay were sorted out very promptly. There was a lot to clean and it was satisfactory, but not excellent. The kitchen cupboards need a jolly good sort out. About 50 wine glasses and two rolling pins but only eight mugs. Not ONE cupboard to put food in for eight. No decent roasting tins. We didnât use the house outside space much as there was no sun after 1pm. Some of the seals had gone on the windows and need replacing. One under counter oven wasnât big enough for eight. Furniture was very comfortable and the main living room was great. The windows in the childrenâs bedroom were very condensated in the morning and the curtains and bedding did get damp. Showers and bathrooms were good. We were disappointed that there was dog poo under the climbing wall in the adventure playground one morning and our grandchild narrowly avoided stepping in it.

What can I say!
This property was the best place we have stayed in anywhere in the UK and we have stayed in a lot. Everything had been well thought of and meticulously planned, making our stay so very relaxing. The house itself is immaculately clean, well decorated and very well equipped, with every need catered for. We loved so many things about it, the decor, the sweeping staircase, the pool table, TV, jacuzzi, and all of the outdoor spaces equipped with comfortable seating. Externally the fabulous sunsets, the gorgeous beaches, clear blue sea, the sound of an owl hooting across the valley on a clear evening. Thank you Victoria and Mark for making our holiday so memorable
