What our customers say about their holidays

In need of a deep clean through out .
I did spend three hours making the house habitable using the un opened array of cleaning products under the sink. We brought the lack of cleanliness to the 'owner 'Jaimie s attention after being at the property for less than half an hour ,who apologised profusely he explained he d had a family crisis and had not been able to do a thorough clean , we both felt sorry for him after he had explained the family crisis to us . He offered to pay for a meal or a free weekend stay , If we did not leave . We felt he needed a break so agreed to stay . He agreed the state of the cottage was unacceptable and it needed a deep clean . I got up at six the next morning and did a deep clean which took three hours. The water in the mop bucket was BLACK that was two buckets , both BLACK water full of grit and black dog hair. But it smelt much fresher. The television was not working on the Sunday , my husband asked Jaimie to come round, he only lives next door, when he knelt down to check the Ariel he said' oh my my god its filthy , I am so sorry '.. We made the best of it ,kept French door open when we were in the cottage to let fresh air circulate .It was worse on a morning when the doors had been shut all night , that horrible smell of musty un fresh , doggy smell coming from the sofas , which I did not clean as they are fabric and needed steam cleaning .We used a large throw I brought from home in case it was chilly on an evening , to cover the tartan sofa and our dogs clean beach towel for the cream sofa . We stayed five days instead of seven the rubbish bins were left under the kitchen window full , this attracted flies . I had offered to put them out but Jaimie had said no he would do it .He did not. This cottage is in a lovely location and we would have returned if the issues I raised with Sykes cottages had been rectified IE a token refund the price of a meal or free weekend Jaimie had offered . But these were just words and as Sykes complaints department manager kept REPEATING to me WE ARE JUST A BOOKING AGENT , YOUR ISSUE IS WITH THE OWNER , sooooooo If you dont mind doing a self clean before you start unpacking be Jaimies guest.

A very comfortable stay for the 2 of us and our dog.
Our experience was only slightly spoiled but a couple of minor issues which should be able to be resolved quite easily: Only 2 knives, forks, spoons, t-spoons in the property. Whatâs the problem? Thereâs just the 2 of us, right? Of course thatâs correct but a set of 6 would have enabled us to make sandwiches, slice fruit, have dinner and have enough to do the same on the following day. The cutlery we were left was not of an expensive quality so no risk of theft, although we did feel that we werenât to be trusted. Nitpicking again Iâm afraid but as we used the log burner every night, we also used the fireside tool set to clean up after each night. The hand brush was our issue and had clearly seen better days as far a bristles were concerned; given enough time and inclination (both in short supply) we could have counted the individual bristles on our fingers. Ok, that was an exaggeration but hope you get the point. On the positive side, a free supply of logs was made available for the duration of our stay - we've never found this before at any other rental properties. Thatâs about it. Please donât let the points above put you off. They are trivial but annoyed us somewhat so felt the need to make the owners aware.

The Cottage exceeded our expectations.
It was wonderfully clean throughout and felt both cosy and spacious at the same time... just right for the 2 of us and Eddie the dog. It has everything you need for a restful stay, including the warming log burner for cooler evenings and lovely the hot tub for relaxing in after a long walk on one of the nearby beaches. The garden is lovely for enjoying a glass of afternoon fizz and is fully enclosed making it very dog friendly. The owners arenât intrusive but are on hand next door if you need anything. They have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable and welcoming. The bed is large and very comfy, but as a personal preference I would have liked some black out blinds in the bedroom. There is noise from the machinery at the working farm next door but we got used to that and it didnât spoil our stay or keep us awake at night. Would love to return here again in the future.

Absolutely stunning.
..as soon as you walk in here there is a warm cozy feeling.. beautifully presented..also immaculate .. added little extras not expecting on arrival.. I have never been anywhere were they have thought of everything there was nothing you could need which they did not have to hand.so cozy and relaxing .the bed is so so comfortable.ive been to a lot of places and this takes a lot to beat...if I had to be very very extremely picky the only thing I'd say is if you want to snuggle on couch watch tv with partner it's not really big enough or Maybe that's just us!! Very nice recliner chair though if other has couch!! Loved it so much we book again I've recommend this to lot of people ..I did not go out to local pub so can't say but on passing looked lovely we just didn't feel the need as we relaxed books and watching tv .the conservatory is beautiful for relaxing with a book xx

The property is okay.
The village and surrounding area is very nice. The main problem is the busy road going past just outside the house. You get cars, lorries, motorcycles and farm traffic throughout the day and some at night. Nice cottage inside, clean, modern but very small, feels a bit crammed. The pots and pans were fine. The dishes and mugs are very nice. The best things were the clothes pegs (proper decent clothes pegs) and the towels. Nice enclosed garden outside, was nice to eat outside. No vacuum cleaner. No iron. No freezer. And (gasp!) no dishwasher, although you can tell the last one from the ad. Main bedroom bed is creaky and the mattress is springy, did not like, but maybe some people like springy mattresses. Other than this was all good. The only deal breaker really was the traffic noise.
