What our customers say about their holidays

We were amazed to find that the cottage was in such a wonderful location- right beneath the Ingleton Mountain.
We stayed home most evenings because the all-round views were too good to miss. As an artist I was able to take home some sketches without having to search for a subject. A glass of wine on the balcony and a wonderful sunset were the perfect ending to enjoyable visits to local scenic attractions: The Waterfall walk - 7 miles- very enjoyable, Walk through tree-lined paths, up and over the lime-stone steps parallel to the river. We didn't make the whole way, being over eighty, but still enjoyable. The river at makes for an ideal contrast- a relaxing day with easy walking along the river banks or sitting on the benches provided. It makes an ideal picnic space with the added bonus of an ice cream van and much entertainment watching the school children diving and thrashing about in the water. The town itself is small and has interesting shops and choices of cafe/bars/restaurants. Ingleton itself has a wonderful food and gift shop with award winning butchers, sandwiches, freshly-made ready foods, pies, cakes and fruit. I really didn't feel the need to cook- in spite of the excellent cooking facilities at the cottage.

We arrived to the property and the owner was in the home which he admitted had not been cleaned as his 'help' had not arrived.
There were hairs in the ensuite sink, crumbs and dog hairs throughout the entire property and the kitchen sink and worktops had not been cleaned. The ensuite shower cannot be used as the water does not get hot. The barbecue had not been cleaned. There is a broken chair on the patio which cannot be used as it isn't safe. There was a blockage within the manhole cover which caused the downstairs to become flooded via the toilet with waste water soaking into the carpet. The owner left us to clean this up after the flood and did not check on us at all after he had arranged for the blockage to be cleared. We were charged for the drainage company costs and money taken from our account without our consent. The blockage was blamed on us with no proof that we had done anything to cause it

What a fantastic choice we made !
This property was just perfect for us visiting relatives in the area .Arrrived 18th October and we had the best weeks weather of the month . We received the most generous welcome pack we have ever had! The house was really clean and had a lovely fresh smell, the beds were really comfy with quality linen.Lovely and warm with plenty of hot water when needed. We always bring our own supplies but there were plenty of towels, toilet rolls and tea, coffee and sugar etc if we needed them .The walk into Lytham was 5 minutes and there were lots of eateries to keep us happy all week including the poshest Wetherspoons we have ever had a drink in ! The communication from the owner was excellent and we look forward to another visit..Thank-you

This little cottage was very well equipped with the exception of a washing machine but it was not needed this trip as the weather was dry.
Really large bedroom with plenty of draw and hanging space. Kitchen very well equipped and I was able to find all the dishes and utensils I required. The location is excellent as there is lots to do in the area. There is also a deli type shop within walking distance with a small cafe so vegetable and meat etc can be purchased here or alternatively Booths supermarket in Kirby Longsdale has an excellent choice. Restaurant information was provided by the owner and we tried Avanti out and had a good meal. If all Sykes Cottages are of a similar standard, as reflected in the price I presume then we will hopefully use you again.

We had a fantastic few days staying in this charming old house.
5 Castle Hill is superbly situated on a cobbled street just a stones throw from Lancaster Castle - a really atmospheric setting and perfect for anyone interested in the history of the city. Itâs also extremely central with easy walking access to shops, museums, restaurants and pubs. The house itself is well furnished and equipped with everything you could need, including an off-road parking space which was much appreciated. There was plenty of room for a family of four with space to sit and relax both in the kitchen and sitting room. Communication with the host, James, was very friendly and helpful.
