What our customers say about their holidays

The property and surrounding was gorgeous.
Was hard to find as sat nav took us to big green house ,Pendle stables, but it was next private road along. You can't really see the sign til you're on top of it and at night there is no lights just a small red reflector on post . Few lovely pub restaurants nearby and lovely villages to visit. Before arriving at property, we had a call to say oven door was broken (Saturday) that was fixed but Monday and they had provided an air fryer . There was no washing machine available. Although they have two ground floor bedrooms they had a big step going into them which was difficult for me and my mum to access , being disabled. They did come quick with a couple of wheelchair ramps but they weren't ideal as we needed to use as extra step. So they were folded but unstable, so my husband went out and bought a couple of blocks for us to use instead . My mum and I rarely used living room because there were two big steps into that . For any able bodied persons the house was great . Just need to be aware that it's not accessible for disabled. They toilet next to living room was blocked , we did make them aware of this but wasn't sorted, as I said we aren't using it anyway . The others enjoyed using the pool table upstairs. And my 4yr old also enjoyed the play area outside . Although there were a few little issues to deal with during our stay , we did enjoy our time there . We saw the owner the day oven was being sorted and had a nice chat. I would recommend staying at grains barn . Just need to be aware that the ground floor is not accessible for disabled .

The first impression of Hudson was WOW!
This was beautiful and well appointed. The enclosed garden was ideal for our dog. Plenty of crockery and cutlery. We tried very hard to get the TV to work but it didnât. All it did was buffer. The WiFi signal was very weak and kept dropping out for our phones too. We spent time looking at leaflets on places to go, then realised they hadnât been updated since 2018. We couldnât get the info on our phones to follow them up. The sitting room was upstairs and was comfortable. Apart from the sharp nail that stuck up through a dining room chair. I did tell the maintenance man about it. We were told there was a washing machine we could use. We hunted! Eventually our neighbour form Bilboa showed us where it was. It is located in a shipping container in a fenced area that looked locked. It really needed to be made clear in the information book where it was. I had phoned in advance about using the washing machine and was told it was in the annex! Likewise it would be good to know how the hob worked. It should have been stated in the information folder. It took ages to work it out. We love the location. The grounds are amazing and it is well located for the Lake District and the West Coast. Places to eat would include The Fleece, The Applestore, Daisy Clough Nurseries and The Barn. Amazing ice-cream at The Barn, one scoop is huge!

A wonderful house !
We live quite close by but hadnât realised how gorgeous the countryside is around the farmhouse . The gardens are beautiful and so well maintained. We are of an age where mattresses are important ! Apart from the double bedroom at the back of the house above the hall, the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped. The pool table was a great hit with all ages of our family. Just a few suggestions. We had very watchful adults around our toddlers, however the windows upstairs are set attractively low down as per the age of the house and we felt there could be more secure locks .The second living room was hardly used. What is more important is that there is only room for 4/5 adults on the sofa in the main living room. If one has rented the house to be with family it means that if 10 of you would like to sit together ,at least 5 have to spend the evening sitting on dining chairs. Things to do Great walks from the house ,yet only a few minutes drive into Chorley for provisions. Astley Hall , Heskin Hall , Samlesbury Hall , Hoghton Tower all interesting places within a short drive. Lots of family attractions nearby.Farm visits, cinemas, bowling etc. Best of all is the lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere with peaceful views. We will certainly book the house annually if we can!

My family and I recently had the pleasure of staying at the charming Grains Barn for a weekend getaway in celebration of my grandmother's birthday.
First and foremost, our hosts were exceptional. Their warmth and hospitality made us feel like welcome guests from the moment we stepped in. They were always on hand to answer our questions, provide recommendations for local attractions, and ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible. Their genuine care for our well-being was evident throughout our stay, and it made all the difference. Grains Barn itself was a hidden gem. It's a beautifully maintained property, and what struck us most was how spotlessly clean it was. The attention to detail in maintaining the cottage was impressive, and it contributed significantly to our overall enjoyment. The cottage was well-equipped with all the amenities we could possibly need. A fully stocked kitchen and a cosy living area with a fireplace was the perfect spot for family gatherings. The bedrooms were comfortable and provided a peaceful night's sleep. Grains Barn is an outstanding holiday cottage that provides everything you could wish for in a peaceful and well-maintained retreat. The hosts' genuine kindness, the cottage's impeccable cleanliness, and its homey atmosphere make it a standout choice for a relaxing getaway. We would gladly return and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a memorable holiday.

Well equipped large dwelling, with lovely quality clean bedding and towels, along with washing machine and most other kitchen essentials, except a dishwasher, which for large groups would be preferred over tumble dryer.
Big issue in bathrooms, with literally nowhere to hang a towel, gown, toilet roll, along with not a single wall mirror throughout home. Also lacking coat hooks, so definite need for more storage, especially with staying a week. The same in the kitchen, no real space to store food, other than large integrated fridge freezer. We ideally wanted a more rural cottage, with more garden, as this had large shared carpark with very high small garden other side, not ideal for younger children and again shared. Despite the obvious history of the building, there is no original features and work hasn't been carried out to a particularly high standard, though all very clean. I feel this is better suited for few days as base, or for groups of adults as easily walkable into Rawtenstall, which has a full array of food and drinking options, along with loads of supermarkets and shops. We enjoyed our week there, had amazing weather and explored a fabulous part of the country, but not quite what we are used to, and happily admit to that partly my own fault in not researching better. Annette a lovely chatty and friendly lady x
