What our customers say about their holidays

We absolutely loved it at Lanthorn Cottage.
The 200 year old cottage is lovely, and the long garden was perfect for our dog to run up and down with a ball. The summer house was used by us daily, for reading a book or watching an ipad in the lovely peaceful surroundings. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the living room was cozy in the evenings. The beach was a short 10 minute walk away, through a field with a public footpath, turning left as you come out of the cottage road onto Grub Street, and then turn right off of Grub Street when you see the opening of the field. There's a clear walkway through the field, and then walk along the back of the caravan park and keep heading towards the lighthouse (zoom in on google maps or google earth, you can clearly see the footpath). There is a Tesco about 15 minutes drive away, but we've been to Eccles on Sea previously so knew our way around the area. I would always say to people who are looking to book a holiday anywhere, to do your research before finally booking. Although Sykes wont give you the full address of the cottage prior to your full payment being made, it does show you where the property is on the map and it's not that difficult to work out where the cottage is from the image shown on the website, or you can google the rough address and see whats local to the cottage, and where the beach is. I would say that we will probably be back to Lanthorn Cottage at some point, as we loved how quiet it was there, surrounded by fields and birdsong. The Housekeeper Siobhan was amazing, she gave us all the information we needed before we got there and nothing was too much trouble, not that we had any problems at all. The only reason we contacted her was to ask a couple of questions before we arrived and to thank her when we left. All in all, we would highly recommend Lanthorn Cottage.

Don't like how you charge a booking fee. !! First impression of property on arrival wasnt good. Debris on outer widow sills and on the front of the premises. Appreciate there are trees around however it could have been swept up before arrival.Front door dirty. Threshold over door way grubby. Bird poo & cob webs on windows. Car park and yard needs attention with weeds growing. 2nd slab out of back door is a trip hazard. Thresholds over all doors on the back are full of muck. Patio picnic table is too grubby to eat off. Knives need replacing. Very very blunt. Did try to sharpen with sharpening tool, but even that is worn. Need to change bedding to season. 13.5 tog quilt we had on our bed. Bed pillows need replacing. Fan would be nice. Fridge Ice box needs de frosting. Top oven needs a deep clean. Both toilet brushes need replacing. Wasn't very nice. Bathroom needs a toilet roll holder on the wall. Clearer instructions needed to operate oven, washing machine and shower would be a good idea. Also instructions on what is allowed in recycling bin as nothing in the info book. Also which bins are for Boatyard would be good to know. A washing line would also be a bonus although there is a foldi g dryer, but not brilliant when you have a load to dry. Positives... Great location. Good access for parking when inconsiderate locals don't park opposite entrance.

Cottage was very clean and had a pretty garden.
Great parking but had slight difficulty finding it as SatNav directed us to opposite end of Grub Street for some reason. Cottage was well equipped and cosy with the log burner alight and we had a relaxing break. Information on Sykes stated that beach, shop and pub were 0.1 miles away when in fact this turned out to be 1 mile for all. We did the walk on a lovely day but as lanes have no pavements this would not be great at night, or if you have young children. The close proximity of shop, pub, beach etc was one of the main reasons for booking the cottage so was disappointed to find that this was not the case and suggest information on Sykes is updated. Also, do not rely on the village shop for all your needs. Stocks lots of alcohol and gifts such as tea towels and coasters but slightly (extremely!) lacking in most other basics but there are plenty of nearby places to buy supplies which are a short drive away.

Charnwood was charming, immaculate and so comfortable, newly renovated with such good design and perfect for 3 with the modern fully appointed annex. What more could one ask: a cosy fire and sunroom, a lovely suntrap of a landscaped back garden and a quiet road only minutes’ walk by footpath to the town green. Burnham Market was the jewel in the crown - this village has everything, great delis and bakeries, lovely shops, great restaurants, coffee places and cocktails, a fresh fish store and even a Tuscan market with produce from their farm in Montalcino. Add this to close to the coast and central for all other adventures. All round this was a lucky choice. And Norfolk Hideaways is in town too for any help you might need. Our appreciation for such a lovely holiday. One suggestion: an opening window for fresh air in the annex when the bifold doors cannot be open.

We absolutely loved Owl Cottage! Having stayed in numerous holiday lets we have to say that Owl Cottage is definitely our favourite and we'd love to return. The well-equipped kitchen and downstairs living space was absolutely gorgeous and gave us ample room for our 2 large dogs (plus one crate and one bed). The entry was great for muddy/sandy boots and coats. Lovely cosy dining room and lounge. Cute bedrooms and lovely bathrooms. Super quiet location with almost no passing traffic. Great large and secure garden. Thoughtful touches such as welcome pack and Bluetooth speaker, The only slight negative point was that the fence and gate to the back garden was quite low - meaning that our dogs could have easily jumped over if they wanted to escape. We simply put some garden furniture in their way.. but it would be brilliant if the fencing here could be made higher.
