  The property was in a super location, with secure parking and access. It was perfectly clean and tidy, and we were pleased to see that there was plenty of storage space - cloakroom, utility room and good wardrobe and cupboard space in the bedrooms. Very comfortable throughout, a spacious lounge upstairs and a very “homely” kitchen dining area. Excellent kitchen fittings- cooker, hob, microwave, dishwasher, and a generous supply of crockery, glasses, utensils etc. ( could have done with a few small butter knives!). En suite showers were very much appreciated., as was the controlled central heating.A very pleasant small patio area at the rear, sheltered and private. We enjoyed our stay very much and hope to come back to Edynwell some time in the not too distant future.

  Location- Excellent Cleanliness- Very Good Nice touches- The owners left a vase of daffodils and a bottle of fizz which were very welcome. Young Children- There were no child friendly tumblers/bowls/plates etc. which made mealtimes rather hazardous. Also the kitchen is on the ground floor with the lounge and 2 bedrooms upstairs. This also poses a problem if young children are constantly going up and down the stairs (toddlers). The house and bedrooms are pleasantly decorated but the beds and pillows are firm. Only 1 TV in the lounge although wall plugs fitted in bedrooms to presumably, accommodate TV’s. Overall a lovely stay with family and grandchildren!

  We have had a wonderful holiday, the weather has been kind to us. We went to Wallington Hall which was a very enjoyable day with lovely walks. We have also enjoyed exploring Alnmouth with its lovely beach, but we also love Amble and visiting the fabulous ice cream parlour, Spurellis. We even visited North Berwick up in Scotland, which is a lovely small place with a lovely journey up, right along the coastline. We had a lovely meal last Cafe Tirreno in Alnwikc which was very reasonably priced. Alnwick Garden is worth a visit with its amazing fountain! Thank you for the lovely goodies and for letting us stay in such a beautiful cottage.

  We have stayed a few times in the area so knew where we had booked but obviously not been inside the property so were looking forward to being so close to the bay itself.

  Whilst the position of the property was excellent there is clearly a lack of maintenance both inside and outside the surrounding area of the lodge - which is a shame. Cleanliness was lacking somewhat with dirty pans in the cupboard, mould in the bathrooms and generally needing a decent deep clean. Pans needed replacing and cutlery all mismatched and really blunt knives in the block with no sharpener provided so whilst we enjoyed our stay we would not necessarily revisit the specific lodge - however with a little time and effort by the owners this could all be easily rectified.

  You can always tell if the owners of a holiday let have ever spent as little as one night at their property – if they haven’t, the lighting will probably be appalling. We arrived hungry and tired out and immediately felt as though we had died and gone to heaven. A whole packet of delicious biscuits, homemade jam, a parking disc, a comprehensive visitor information file – everything we could want! On top of all that, we have comfortable beds and great working heating for the chilly evenings. Thank you very much to the owners!
