What our customers say about their holidays

Love this property.
We stayed last year and loved it so much we decided to come back. The house has everything you could want. It's lovely and relaxing and we love the village. The village has a local shop as well as a bakery and pub . Beautiful walks and of course the Castle with all its history. Norham is close to lots of Northumberland and plenty of places to visit. Both Alnwick and Bamburgh Castle are a short drive away. As is Holy Island and Berwick-Upon-Tweed. Also plenty of Scottish towns and places of interest nearby. It was nice after a very busy day to come back to the cottage and read and relax . Loved that the cottage is right opposite the local church which if you walk through will take you right down to the river. One last thing to note was my husband accidentally shut the front door with our housekey inside. We rang Sykes up who contacted the owner. The problem was sorted so quickly and it was nice and reassuring to know .

We only stayed one night out of three, the lighting outside the property is terrible, we arrived when it was dark and struggled to use the key box to obtain the door key, the door key is a struggle to open the door.
There was a very bad damp smell on arrival into the property, bedding was dirty and stained, there was full damp absorbing tubs, there was a lot of dust on the window sill in the bathroom and the surfaces were grubby. Outside the property there are a lot of weeds which could be a tripping hazard. There could be a light placed above the door. Positive points - the owner is very approachable, was very good at sorting problems we pointed out the day after we arrived. the bed itself was comfy, there was mattress protectors and pillow protectors, downstairs sofas are very comfortable, the kitchen is good quality and well laid out, thereâs teas and coffee sachets. The heating system is very effective. The place could benefit from curtains in the bedroom to block out the light outside shining into the room, and a few more homely touches upstairs.

I'm 5 foot so it would have been nice to have a mirror in the room which I could see!
Maybe a floor length one near the front door as then you could use the plug there to dry hair using the hairdryer. I was confused as to what some of the switches in the room did. Maybe a little more info in the welcome book would have helped also regarding the bins and recycling. It would be good to have an extra socket on the kitchen as I had to swap plugs constantly. Other than that loved our stay, bed was extremely comfy and we had all the items we needed for our stay. We would definitely recommend and return. Two other things the shower did cut out on me once, it came back on and also there was some drilling one morning which it would have been nice to be told about.

This is a very clean and well presented property in a lovely village.
Excellent local butchers and wine shop, bakery and small general store. Riverside walks along the Tweed were delightful. I stayed with my 2 dogs and the proximity to the Churchyard was invaluable first thing on a morning. The main problem I experienced was the dreadfully uncomfortable sofa. When you sat on it you were about a foot off the floor and there was absolutely no support for your back. It was largely due to this that I cut my holiday short and returned home early. If the weather had been better and I didnât need to be in the house I would have stayed longer. The other item lacking is a rubber mat for the floor of the shower. Excellent shower, extremely slippy surface.

We had a lovely week at Pedwell really well situated in the village.
The house was lovely and warm and quite well equipped. The wine and shortbread were very welcome. We could have just done with a sweeping brush to get all the bits up without bringing the vacuum downstairs all the time and a grab rail for the shower would make it feel safer. I can't understand why we have not been to Norham before after going up 3 or 4 times a year. Fascinating castle and it's history. The river Tweed down the lane was lovely, and the river bankwalk was tranquil. We visited the church and chatted to the warden we could even take our dog inside. Brilliant Sunday roast at the Masons arms and another meal there later in the week. Everyone was so friendly.
