Holly Cottage is frequently praised for its cleanliness, cosy charm, and convenient location close to Stow town centre. Guests appreciate the traditional Cotswold character and find the beds comfortable. While some guests mention issues with heating and the log fire, these do not detract from the overall positive experiences. The cottage's well-equipped kitchen and private garden are also highlights.
Guests consistently describe the cottage as spotlessly clean, indicating high standards of cleanliness throughout the property.
The cottage is appreciated for its quiet yet convenient location, within easy walking distance to the town centre and local amenities, making it an ideal base for exploring.
The cottage is generally found to be comfortable, especially the beds and living area. However, some guests find the mattresses hard and the bathroom chilly, slightly affecting the comfort score.
Facilities are well-regarded, with a well-stocked kitchen and comfortable sitting room. Points are deducted for issues with heating control, lack of freezer space, and smoke from the log fire.
There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the owner, so it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

Stow-on-the-Wold, the highest town in the Cotswolds, was originally an Iron Age Fort and is a perfect example of traditional English life. Since the 12th century, this historic marketplace has hosted a variety of fairs, including the biennial Gypsy Horse Fair, numerous craft fairs, and a weekly Farmers' market. The Stow Horse Fair is held twice a year, on the Thursday closest to 12th May and the Thursday closest to 24th October, this is a traditional fair for people to meet up and trade which dates back to 1476 when its Charter was granted; Stow is very busy for a day or two before and after each fair, and a number of shops, pubs and restaurants are closed. The village stocks stand at one end of the large market square, while antique stores, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants, and a cricket museum line the other side. The Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way, Gloucestershire, and Monarch's Way all pass through or near Stow, making it a convenient starting point for hikes and bike excursions through the picturesque Cotswolds countryside. Located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Bourton-on-the-Water is one of the most visited settlements in the Cotswolds due to its picturesque setting on the banks of the River Windrush. Moreton-in-Marsh, a Saxon market town, and Broadway, the typical English village, are both easily accessible and make for a lovely day trip. 20 miles away in Cheltenham is England's most fully realised Regency town. Famous for its horse-racing season in March that culminates in the Gold Cup steeplechase, this spa town also boasts an astonishing selection of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants, and bars. Festivals of literature, jazz, classical music, science, and food and drink are held there at different periods of the year. Oxford is the oldest university city in England and is also known as "The City of Dreaming Spires" due to its abundance of illustrious attractions such as the university's 38 colleges (half of which were founded before 1600), the oldest university teaching room, the Bodleian Library, Ashmolean Museum, Pitt Rivers Museum, and Botanic Gardens. Stow-on-the-Wold is conveniently located for day trips to nearby Stratford upon Avon, Bath, Worcester, and the port city of Gloucester.

We were lucky enough to have good enough weather to eat lunch outside one day. The sitting room was very comfortable and we lit the fire which was very cosy. Kitchen was well stocked, even a cafetière ! (We bought one each, just in case) wish weâd known there was one already. The oven was a bit of a mission to turn on, but once weâd read the instructions we realised that the child lock was on! Beds nice and comfortable, linen lovely! We slept well, but that could have been the wine!!! On the whole. It was a lovely girly couple of days away! Thank you so much. We would come back!
