Church View is a well-equipped cottage praised for its prime location in Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire. Guests appreciate the secure parking, cleanliness, and the thoughtful touches like welcome biscuits. While some found the church bells charming, others recommended earplugs. The property's comfort and modern conveniences were highlighted, though feedback on furnishings and maintenance suggests room for improvement.
The property generally maintains good standards of cleanliness, with several guests finding it spotless. However, there are mentions of areas needing attention, such as dusty skirting boards, dirty shower cubicles, and kitchen cleanliness, which slightly detract from the overall high standards.
The location is highly praised for its proximity to the centre of Bourton, with secure parking and easy access to local attractions. The frequent mention of the church bells suggests a charming, if occasionally disruptive, local feature.
Comfort levels are generally high, with guests enjoying the garden and the well-equipped rooms. Criticisms include uncomfortable settees and limited hanging space in some bedrooms, which suggests that while the property is comfortable, there is room for improvement in the furnishings.
Facilities are well-regarded, especially the kitchen, though there are reports of issues with the induction hob and a lack of suitable saucepans. The presence of a second TV room and a freezer were positives, but maintenance issues with gates and heating controls were noted.
Guests have mentioned thoughtful touches such as welcome biscuits, tea, and coffee, which contribute to a pleasant stay. However, it should be noted that such gifts are gestures of hospitality and may not be guaranteed for every stay.
Tucked down a quiet lane Church View is a calm and uncluttered cottage, perfectly located within a gated development in one of the prime villages of the Cotswolds. Situated right in the heart of Bourton on the Water, Church View was completed in 2017, and occupies the largest plot on the end of terrace of five top notch homes. It is finished to a very high standard and kitted out with very latest gadgets and home comforts. Inside the house is deceptively spacious with bright open plan living on the ground floor, three bedrooms, two bathrooms and two Living Room s all spread across three floors- ideal for families or groups alike. The muted colours and furnishings create a welcoming feel, the kitchen is super-smart for cooking up a feast, while upstairs good quality beds and luxury bathrooms will keep you relaxed and revived following a long walk or some fancy shopping in Stow or Daylesford - all making this a standout choice.Everything has been beautifully thought through, and for us it is hard to look beyond Church View when looking for a stay in one of the most quintessential, postcard pretty villages in the Cotswolds. Heavenly.
Located in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the historic village of Bourton-on-the-Water dates back to Neolithic times with over 100 buildings being Grade II listed or higher. The picturesque high street nestles alongside the River Windrush over which several low stone bridges span, which is why Bourton-on-the-Water is known as the Venice in the Cotswolds. Nearby, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises traditional England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antiques shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum.

Close enough to Bourton but far enough away for peace and quiet. It was warm, clean and comfortable. The additional welcome pack was a bonus. Having parking for two cars was great in such a busy village.
Pat
Private parking for two cars was available.

However did not give 5 stars as the property cleanliness could have been better kitchen cabinet fronts were dirty so were the outer pans of the toilets and the shower mat in the main bathroom was wet & dirty must have been from the previous guests. Also we reported to the local agent that the fire alarm sounded early one morning and we were concerned we could not find any window keys as they were locked but did not get a response to this query. We did all enjoy exploring the beautiful Cotswolds despite the weather
