Pike Cottage is a characterful property praised for its charm, cleanliness, and prime location in Stow. Guests enjoyed the historic ambiance, comfortable beds, and thoughtful touches like a Christmas tree and welcome treats. Some found the cottage cosy and well-equipped, ideal for family and group stays. However, there were mentions of maintenance issues and the need for better amenities.
Most guests found Pike Cottage to be clean and well-maintained, with only a few comments about carpets needing cleaning and a courtyard that could be tidier. The overall impression is that the property is kept to a high standard of cleanliness.
The location is highly praised for being central and convenient, allowing guests to easily explore Stow and the surrounding Cotswolds. Despite being on a busy road, the property still offers a sense of privacy.
Guests generally found the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, though there were some remarks about the suitability for tall individuals and the comfort of the twin beds. The historic nature of the cottage adds to its comfort charm, despite some minor inconveniences.
While the cottage is well-equipped and has a kitchen that guests enjoy, there are several comments about issues with the showers, heating, and hot water. Some guests also noted the lack of a toilet on the second floor and the need for better recycling facilities.
The presence of welcome treats and festive decorations during holiday seasons has been appreciated by guests, indicating a level of thoughtfulness. However, it should be noted that such gestures are not guaranteed and may vary with each stay.

The highest town in the Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises olde worlde England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly Farmers' market. The Stow Horse Fair is held twice a year, on the Thursday closest to 12th May and the Thursday closest to 24th October, this is a traditional fair for people to meet up and trade which dates back to 1476 when its Charter was granted; Stow is very busy for a day or two before and after each fair, and a number of shops, pubs and restaurants are closed. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antique shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of Stow, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way, Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close to the town. Bourton-on-the-Water, known as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds' as the River Windrush runs through the centre, lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is one of the most popular Cotswold villages. The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and the quintessential English village of Broadway are all within easy reach and make a great day out. Cheltenham (20 miles away) is, architecturally, the most complete regency town in England. A spa town with an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, it is famous for its horse-racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. At other times of year, it is host to literature, jazz, classical music, science and food and drink festivals. Oxford, the oldest university city in England and sometimes called 'The City of Dreaming Spires’ has an abundance of prestigious attractions, including the 38 colleges of the university (half of which date back before 1600), the oldest university teaching room, the Bodleian Library, Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums, and Botanic Gardens. Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also within easy reach, making Stow-on-the-Wold an ideal base.

We were very disappointed with the accommodation. However, the situation with the water/heating was managed very well by the local staff on call. Many thanks to Lisa, Stuart and the team.

...Infact our 3rd visit to Stow but 1st to Pike Cottage which is a lovely old house in a great location to explore Stow by foot and surrounding area. Very comfortable place but the parking is a problem. It's clearly stated that it's on street parking but due to Stows popularity we found it virtually impossible (September) to park anywhere close to the house at all and most times I'd drop my wife and invariably park up the top end of the Town . Loved the quirky character and charm of Pike Cottage and the fact there's Netflix and Amazon Prime but found the kitchen lacked a few key utensils when we cooked in the house eg: spatula to cook in frying pan. We slept in the main bedroom with ensuite and was very comfortable bed plus loved the fact there was a bath in ensuite too. Lovely characterful dining room oozing charm and all in all a lovely house. We were also fortunate enough to be able to enjoy the garden as had lovely warm sunny weather too

The cottage is full of character and a lovely place to stay, we were there for a girly weekend and it was perfect, the kitchen particularly was great as it had plenty of space for us all to sit down. Only minor criticisms: (1) the welcome book says not to touch the heating, but we had to turn it off as it was BOILING. Set to 20 degrees all night so we were roasting, it was easy enough to turn it off on the controls but would have been better for it to be set to a more normal temperature! (2) tidying up instructions were unclear, they referenced putting bedding into bags provided but we couldnât find these. Not sure if they were old/outdated instructions as they referenced Covid a lot too. (3) very little was provided in terms of bin bags, loo roll and basic cleaning products. The biscuits and crisps were a nice touch, but some basics would have been more useful. All very minor things though and I would stay again.
