Guests say

Guests have praised the Loughrigg apartment for its stunning views, cleanliness, and comfortable furnishings. The proximity to Ambleside's centre and the thoughtful touches like a welcome pack and well-equipped kitchen contribute to a homely feel. Some minor maintenance issues and the steep access were noted, but overall, the property provides a delightful stay with many looking forward to returning.

The apartment is consistently described as extremely clean and spotless, indicating a high standard of cleanliness that guests appreciate.

The location is highly praised for its incredible views and central position, just a short walk from shops and amenities. However, the steep walk to the apartment is noted, which may affect those with mobility issues.

Guests find the apartment very comfortable and homely, with a powerful shower, deep bath, and comfortable sitting area. The well-furnished rooms and the joy of dining with a view contribute to the overall comfort.

The apartment is well-equipped with kitchen utensils, crockery, and towels. Some guests experienced minor maintenance issues with lights and a door lock, but these do not seem to detract significantly from the overall experience.

While guests have mentioned welcome packs, the inconsistency in their provision means that thoughtfulness cannot be fully assessed. It should be noted that such gifts, while appreciated, are not guaranteed.

About this property

Loughrigg is a duplex apartment set in the centre of Ambleside, Cumbria. Offering stunning views over the Grasmere hills and set just paces from several shops, pubs and restaurants, Loughrigg makes an ideal home-away-from-home, welcoming families and couples for a weekend or long week in the Lake District. Upon arrival, you are greeted by an allocated off-road parking space; with so much in walking distance, you’ll hardly need the car at all! The open-plan living space provides a homely feel, where you can kick back on the sofas and catch up on the days events, or search through the Smart TV for your favourite on-demand apps and shows. Culinary delights can be prepared in the fully fitted kitchen, assisted by an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, and there’s even a dishwasher so you won’t have to raise a finger when washing up! Venture upstairs to find the bedrooms, offering a king-size and a twin, along with a bathroom where you can freshen up before the day ahead. Step out to the balcony and unwind at the table and chairs, admiring the striking views of the hills and over the town. Ambleside, which is set at the heart of the National Park, is an excellent place for touring the area’s lakes, villages and hamlets. Leave the car and strike out on foot, exploring the local shops, cafes, pubs, bakeries and restaurants, in the town. Set off to enjoy the many beautiful, and dramatic walks and trails that make this part of the world so special - whether it’s level, peaceful riverside walks through Rothay Park or a challenging climb to the stunning fells, you will find it close to your doorstep. Learn about local history at the Armitt Museum and Gallery and discover the bygone times of many Lake District locations, or venture into Bowness-on-Windermere where Beatrix Potter’s magical tales of Peter Rabbit come to life at the interactive children’s museum. If you’re seeking some adventure, Windermere is home to an array of watersports and wild swimming opportunities or lace up your walking boots and hike through the scenery, including those at Todd Cragg, Scafell Pike, and Red Screes. Whether you're looking to relax or explore, Loughrigg provides the perfect base for an unforgettable holiday in the Lake District.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants, and pubs in the village to suit all tastes, including the popular eateries of Misto, Sheila's Cottage, and The Lily Bar. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

All the rooms are a good size, spotlessly clean, warm, and quiet. The kitchen is well-equipped with plenty of pans, plates, and utensils. The shower room is good, and the parking space is conveniently off-road and near the main entrance.

Spotless clean a great views with everything you need!.the only caution I would give is if your on foot it’s quiet a steep walk upto the apartment. Also the apartment door lock/handle may need replacing at some point as it’s getting a bit worn.but couldn’t fault this place and great location, would definitely book again. One place to note ,If you walk to the end of the car park and down the little slope make time to visit the waterfall which is signposted directly to your right as you get to the bottom of the slope!.About 15 minutes gradual walk uphill though the trees but lovely
