Deer Thwaite is a well-loved cottage praised for its comfort, spaciousness, and excellent location in Windermere, with easy access to local attractions. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and the beautiful garden area. The property is ideal for both relaxation and exploring the Lake District.
While the property was generally found to be clean, several guests noted issues such as cobwebs, long-term dust, and an oven door that could benefit from a deeper clean. These comments suggest room for improvement in cleanliness.
The location is highly praised for being quiet yet conveniently close to Ambleside, Windermere, and local walks. Its central position is ideal for exploring Keswick, Kendal, and Ambleside, with Lake Windermere nearby.
Guests find the cottage comfortable, with special mentions of the comfortable beds and warm atmosphere. However, some guests experienced issues with heating and boiler function, slightly affecting the comfort score.
The property is well-equipped, but there have been several reports of maintenance issues such as problems with the central heating, dishwasher, and TV. These issues indicate that while the facilities are generally good, there is a need for better maintenance.
There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the owners. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

This was our second stay at Deer Thwaite this year, and feels very much a home from home and the best property we have stayed at on the Merewood estate. Plenty of space, bright and three large, comfortable bedrooms. Good location for public transport and handy for a stroll round Brockhole. Best of all is just watching the birds and squirrels on the feeders in the back garden area.

This property was a pleasant surprise. Five of us were staying at the property for a week, and we all commented on how spacious Deer Thwaite is. When returning at the end of the day, everyone could spread out and relax, and the bonus was having the outside area/lawn. It is a shared area, but was never crowded (at least when we were staying there) and is a big bonus with teenagers! The facilities were plentiful (our only small suggestion is possibly to have a couple more towels in the bathrooms for those with long hair after a shower, and the long mirrors would be easier to use if located on the walls instead of inside the wardrobe doors, but these are very minor suggestions). Fingers crossed we'll be able to visit again, and we'd highly recommend to anyone to book this property.
