We met two ladies who were going in to check the property as we arrived. There was zero attention to detail. Dirt all over the decking and windows. Knobs had fallen off cooker. Only 5 forks for 6 people. Bed in main bedroom needs replacing. Very uncomfortable. Metal uncomfortable dining chairs. None of the roller blinds had safety clips fitted. If those two ladies thought this lodge was acceptable then I think you need to review this property. The outside appearance of the lodge hasnât been cleaned all year. Totally unacceptable for the cost of the property. Lodge no 24 was immaculate and far more comfortable and was cheaper. Do not book this lodge!!!

On arrival we noticed the bedding & towels were damp and had to get replacements, which were also damp but not as bad as the original ones. The hot tub was our main issue during our 7 days break; the water was dirty & had a huge build-up of foam. It didn't look like it had been emptied or clean water added for our arrival. I contacted Sykes Cottages who we booked with, early the next morning & every single day since we arrived with no luck. They basically told me it was our own fault the after was dirty & that we should shower before using it. We never had the chance to use it because of how dirty it was. Then I was told if I wanted it emptying & clean water adding I'd have to pay £50, which I refused because this should have been done already. We ended up leaving a day early because we'd had enough. We had no water supply one evening, then the main toilet stopped working, (it took 2 different visits to fix the problem). The beds are not comfortable. The kitchen needs a lot of work, cupboard doors are hanging off, and we had to get some repaired during our stay. The lodge needs a good clean, there are cobwebs & dust everywhere. A lot of items could do with replacing - Sofas, mattresses, pillows, plates & cups, electric fire & Tv's etc. The freezer could also do with being defrosted and cleaned out as it was thick with ice. The decking also could do with jet washing & repainting. The steps leading up to the decking wobble & are not really secure. The Tri doors do not open, well 1 section of it does the other 2 doors don't and I've noticed this has been a problem in a recent review in 2022. The parking for 2 cars is quite tight, but we managed to park both our cars there by reversing into the parking area. We left mainly because we paid extra for the use of a hot tub and didn't get to use it at all. We also left the lodge a lot cleaner than it was when we arrived, that's all we seemed to do during our stay was try to clean up the lodge. It's a shame because with some TLC this could be a lovely lodge and a brilliant spot next to the lake.
