The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. It easily accommodated several adults and a couple of dogs in homely comfort. Amble itself is a lovely harbour town with loads to do and see within walking distance or just a short drive away. No 17 is just a few minutes walk from the harbour and town with a range of restaurants, pubs and bars, cafes, takeaways and handy shops. Parking was a breeze, managing to get 3 cars almost outside the front door without any problems. We also had an electric car which we managed to charge effortlessly within a few minutes of the house. There were plenty of chargers which didnât seem to be used much. The house itself is lovely, clean and deceptively large with spacious and comfortable dining and living rooms, a useful downstairs toilet, a shared bathroom and a lovely bedroom (which I managed to bag!!) with en suite (and a separate bath in the bedroom) on the top floor. It has a well equipped kitchen and small but attractive outside area which I imagine would be lovely in the summer. I would recommend without hesitation and would happily go back again.

The owners, who are very friendly and got in touch regularly to make our stay even more pleasant, have thought of everything! We felt at home in the house and were greeted with a very thoughtful (and delicious!) welcome basket. It is perfectly situated, just a few minutes walk to the harbour and town centre, and about 5 minutes from a lovely beach. We also enjoyed being able to use the leisure centre with the membership card provided by the owners. We can definitely recommend Nr 17!

A nice arrival basket awaited us. Lots of pillows for the beds and towels. The cottage was a 5 min walk to the harbour and beaches such a lovely home
