Ulverston is a cobbled-street market town. It has independent shops, cafés, and pubs with open fires and real ales. Fine dining and tavern meals are both available. Ulverston is a festival town, with flags, walking, art, and music festivals in the summer and the Dickensian Christmas festival in late November. Stan Laurel was born there, and it holds the world record for the biggest foam pie battle, revealing a joyful, community-minded town. The town and surrounding area offer stunning views of the southern Lake District and Morecambe Bay. Deepest, widest, and shortest canal makes for a great afternoon walk with a pub and bay views. All National Park attractions are accessible. Furness Coast has sandy beaches and birding. Last year we stayed in Rowley. This year Alice. There are no negatives comments at all. The whole feeling about Stone Cross just feels right. We would highly recommend anyone visiting the area to pick Stone Cross. Thank you Mike for another great week Eric, Tracy & Seeley (the pooch)

The mansion is fabulous and the apartments are all fitted-out and maintained to a very high standard. Lovely grounds with plenty of equipment provided for the various activities. The owners are happy for you to continue to use the grounds even after check-out. We would highly recommend Stone Cross Mansion as a place to stay.
