Holly Cottage in the Peak District & Derbyshire Dales is a well-loved property, praised for its cosy atmosphere, comfortable beds, and excellent location for exploring the local area. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, the welcome pack, and the property's suitability for dogs, despite some concerns about the garden's security. The cottage's character adds charm, though the steep staircase and low doorways may pose challenges for some.
Most guests found Holly Cottage to be clean and well-maintained, with only a few isolated comments about dust and a lost dog collar found under the sofa. The overall impression is that the property is kept to a high standard of cleanliness.
The location is generally praised for its proximity to local attractions and suitability as a base for exploring the surrounding countryside. However, some guests noted the busy road and parking difficulties, which slightly impacted the overall experience.
Guests consistently mention the comfortable beds and cosy living space, contributing to a pleasant stay. The steep staircase and low doorways, while adding character, have been noted as potential discomforts for taller individuals or those with mobility issues.
While the kitchen is well-stocked and the welcome pack is appreciated, there are mixed reviews about the garden's security for dogs and the absence of a washing machine. The steep staircase has also been highlighted, and some guests mentioned issues with TV reception and the need for better lighting in the living area. Due to the mixed feedback and lack of consistent information across reviews, a definitive score cannot be provided.
The owners' thoughtfulness is frequently mentioned, with guests appreciating the welcome pack including wine, biscuits, and dog treats. It is noted, however, that such gifts, while a delightful touch, may vary and are not guaranteed for every stay.

There are some lovely nearby walks and the village had a few good places to eat and drink, and an absolutely gorgeous bookshop that is well worth a visit.
