The Mizzen, a cottage in Port Isaac, Cornwall, is praised for its excellent location and the charm of staying in a traditional fisherman's cottage. Guests appreciate the clean bedding and the well-equipped kitchen. The coastal path and village amenities are conveniently close, contributing to a pleasant stay.
The property generally receives positive remarks for cleanliness, with clean and tidy conditions noted. However, some guests mention issues such as a dirty garden and floors upon arrival, which slightly lowers the score.
The location is highly praised for being in the centre of Port Isaac, offering convenience and proximity to local attractions. The scenic views and accessibility to the coastal path are particularly appreciated.
Guests find the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy for four adults, but some mention that the sofas are not comfortable and the single bedrooms lack hanging space, which affects the overall comfort level.
While the kitchen is well-equipped, guests report maintenance issues such as broken guttering, low water pressure, and loose saucepan handles. The lack of basic necessities and non-working appliances also contribute to a lower score.
There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts. Therefore, this category cannot be scored, and guests should not expect gifts during their stay.

A real Cornish treasure, Port Isaac. Fishing villages nestled in steep valleys, the old hamlet remains untouched from its days of fishing, exporting slate, and trafficking in smuggled goods in the last century. Near the village's numerous eateries and shops, you'll find a wide variety of charming little homes and larger cliff-top retreats. There are several rock pools to explore in the sandy harbour as the tide goes out. In the heart of Cornwall, it's an ideal location for both romantic getaways and family vacations. Ample parking is available at the village's apex.

Ideally situated. However some frustrations for us. Inadequate cutlery, crockery and glasses. 16 soup spoons! 10 egg cups but only 4 teaspoons and four dessert spoons no small glasses and only four unmatching pint size glasses. No kitchen scissors, saucepan lids donât fit the saucepans. One that does is broken and has sharp edges and really should be removed. No culender for draining vegetables or pasta. In self catering you need the basics to cater for 6 without having to wash up half way through a meal.

The rooms are tastfully and with love decorated. One suggestion: In the smaller bedroom ( first floor) I needed some wallhooks with hangers and a small chair in order to take the clothes off in the evening. Nevertheless nothing to complain about ! Everything is made for a nice stay. Thank you! Reina from Germany
