About this property

Brookside is a well-appointed, three-bedroom bungalow, resting a stone’s throw from the surfing hub of Polzeath beach, Cornwall. Set on a private road, this self-catering holiday home is a fantastic and welcoming base for family and friends, looking to experience the beauty of the county. Newly renovated throughout with fresh, stylish decor, Brookside offers an attractive open-plan kitchen, dining area and sitting area, where everyone can meet and socialise together. With sleek facilities designed to make cooking convenient and enjoyable, the shaker style kitchen includes a breakfast bar, where your guests can sit the other side and chat as you rustle up a quick breakfast before hitting the beach. Open up the patio doors and let the light in, ready to step outside; through the warm, summer months, the fresh sea air can flow through here and create a lovely breeze through the house. The sitting room and front window seat allows for everyone to be close, while having their own areas to either sit and read, watch TV or simply play games and catch up, or if you want a quiet nook, to curl up in a chair with a good book, the porch area at the front of the house lets you sit in front of the picture windows and do just that. The subtle, coastal style has been carried through into the bedrooms which are well furnished and relaxing, with the attractive prints on the soft furnishings standing out against the warm hues on the walls, creating a restful environment and giving that seaside ambiance. If you want a little privacy away from the world before starting the day, the courtyard, which can be accessed through the front gate or the back bedroom, is the perfect place to relax at the table with your morning coffee; a suntrap through the day as the high sides protect it from the coastal breeze. Whether you want to hire a surfboard and learn to catch the waves, take the family to the beach for the day, or hike the South West Coastal Path north towards Pentire Point and the Rumps, Brookside offers the ideal location to be able to do all of these on foot. South of the main beach at Polzeath you can potter along the coastline past the rock pools of Greenaway beach to the windsurfer’s paradise of Daymer Bay, where the gentler waves lap the shore and provide all the fun little ones need to paddle in. From here, you can walk to the historical St. Enodoc Church which was once completely covered in sand from the dunes, through St. Enodoc Golf Course, and for breath-taking panoramic views of the Camel Estuary, up Brea Hill; we can assure you that the short uphill trek will be worthwhile! Just around the corner in Rock, further activities await you such as water-skiing, sailing and paddleboarding. If the slower pace of life suits you, whether in Polzeath or Rock there are plenty of restaurants and cafes to treat yourself to all the Cornish fare they offer while looking out across the glistening water. Enjoy all of this at Brookside.

The seaside village of Polzeath boasts a sandy beach, which is bordered by rock pools and is acclaimed to be one of the best surfing beaches in the country. Polzeath itself has a number of small shops, cafes and restaurants, and the South West Coast Path, a 630-mile route, runs through the village. Just over seven miles away is the popular market town of Wadebridge, which is set alongside the River Camel and offers an array of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as North Cornwall's only family-owned cinema. There’s wonderful countryside in the area, with the renowned Camel Trail passing through the town, and the nearby town of Padstow, with its harbour, pastel-washed medieval houses and celebrated restaurants is well worth exploring. Within driving distance is the UK surfing capital of Newquay, with over 11 miles of golden sandy beaches. Polzeath is an excellent base for exploring this part of Cornwall.

Could have done with a simple hair drier but not essential. Very well kitted out & really enjoyed our stay. Did find the early check out hard as other places have had later. Also other places have been chilled allowing earlier entry if house already cleaned, considering house clean & empty & no down side to renter. But on the whole every enjoyable stay & would definitely recommend.

We had to oversee the septic tank cleaning company unblock a mountain of excrement from the manhole and failed attempt to empty the tank due to there being no access cover. We contacted you about this before. We also asked to have the loo brush replaced as it was caked in dried excrement but this never materialised and the brush for the dustpan was full of hair. The mattress was very hard so we did not get a good night’s sleep and the duvet was very thin so we had to add the duvet from the other bed to keep warm. We have used your company before and have had good accommodation, this one has let you down, but we will use you again. S&J
