Dart Views is a well-loved cottage in Dartmouth, boasting spectacular views, particularly from the top decking area. Guests have praised the property's comfortable and well-equipped nature, with special mentions of the cosy feel and the welcoming touches such as a Christmas tree during festive stays. The location is noted for its tranquillity and proximity to local attractions, though the steep access may challenge some.
The cleanliness of Dart Views has received mixed feedback. While some guests found the property to be clean and well-maintained, others noted issues with dust, cobwebs, and stained bedding. The inconsistency in cleanliness experiences has led to a slightly above average score.
The location of Dart Views is highly praised for its stunning views and proximity to Dartmouth. The challenging access due to steep hills and steps is noted, but the panoramic views and the property's charm seem to compensate for this inconvenience for most guests.
Comfort at Dart Views is generally well-regarded, with guests appreciating the cosy atmosphere and well-furnished rooms. However, some concerns about dampness and a musty smell in certain areas slightly detract from the overall comfort score.
Facilities at Dart Views are considered to be good, with a well-equipped kitchen and comfortable living spaces. Maintenance issues such as a sticking lock, flaking paint, and a leak during rain have been mentioned, indicating room for improvement.
The thoughtfulness of the hosts at Dart Views is evident in the personal touches and amenities provided, such as dog bowls and treats, and an honesty system for emergency items. While gifts like tea and chocolate treats are mentioned, it is important to note that such gestures are not guaranteed for every stay.
Dart Views is a terraced house in ‘Above Town’, a narrow lane that runs parallel to the River Dart, offering stunning views from the top deck of the garden out to sea and across the river. Dartmouth's boutiques, restaurants and tea rooms, as well as the river itself are just 10 minutes walk away. The Coast Path is 10 minutes away or you can enjoy a quick stroll to Warfleet Creek. The Start Bay coastline can also be reached quickly and easily by car with Blackpool Sands beach just 4 miles away.
Three steps lead up to a nautical front door, from there are two bedrooms at ground floor level. The master bedroom has a double bed and plenty of storage whilst the second bedroom has two 3ft beds. Also on this level is a family bathroom and additional shower room.
On the first floor is a light and bright open plan living room with a high vaulted ceiling and a large picture window, for making the most of the breathtaking views. The kitchen has free-standing modern units with beech and stainless steel work surfaces. The comfortable lounge area has a double sofa, two leather chairs, TV, DVD player and CD player with iPod docking unit, a modern dining table and 4 chairs. Ideal for colder evenings, there is a log burning stove. Immediately outside the kitchen door is an enclosed private patio with night lighting, ideal for evening dining. At the very top of the garden there is a modern deck with table, four chairs, two sun loungers and magnificent views across the River Dart and out to sea.
This property welcomes one large or two small dogs, and dog treats, bowls and an emergency lead are provided.
Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the stunning Start Bay coastline, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many popular events such as the annual Dart Music Festival, Dartmouth Food Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta. This historic town boasts interesting landmarks, such as Dartmouth Castle, the Britannia Royal Naval College, and the National Trust’s Greenway House just a short ferry ride away. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through the rolling countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat or ferry trip across to Kingswear, on to Brixham, or down the river to the village of Dittisham. The views are stunning and the climb up was worth it every time just to sit and while away the hours watching the river life. We will definitely be back. The walk to the castle is lovely and not too hard and we would recommend the Round Robin tour for a relaxing day. The Ship Inn over Kingswear is lovely and food was great

View from top decked area is breath taking and always enjoy our holiday here. Note for Owners Stairs to top decking were very overgrown so had to do some temporary pruning. Requires further cutting

The upstairs lounge area and kitchen was well equipped and comfortable. However, we did find downstairs very dark in the bathrooms and second bedroom due to being built into the hillside (which is no fault of the owner!) and as such felt very cold without the heating on in July. Our clothes also felt damp from being downstairs which wasnât very pleasant. There was no hairdryer provided, which is unusual for holiday properties now. Cleanliness was not brilliant - the two bedside tables in the main bedroom had a layer of dust on and cup ring stains on arrival and the outside table and chairs by the kitchen were green with algae. There was also some sort of bone on the table - perhaps from a previous dog owner but not inviting for us to use this space. Overall a great location, but a few issues for us which would put us off staying again.
