Occupying an enviable location right in the heart of the picturesque seaside town of Lyme Regis in Dorset, is this delightful townhouse, Mermaid House. The perfect property for a large family get-together or a gathering of friends, the accommodation is flexible and well-planned and is spread over three floors. The first-floor sitting room is warm and welcoming with an inviting seating area, an ornamental fireplace and picture windows overlooking the bustling streets of Lyme Regis, making it a wonderfully relaxing space in which to spend time. The beauty of the accommodation is the space is really flexible so when it comes to mealtimes you can choose from eating in the formal dining room or you might want something a bit more informal, in which case there is space to eat in the large kitchen/diner. The kitchen itself is fully equipped with everything needed to cook delicious food for your whole party so time spent here is certainly enjoyable and there is room for guests to keep the chef company too, so everyone is happy! There is also some delightful outside space here so you can step out into the attractive courtyard or onto the roof terrace; both are wonderful places to enjoy some eating, drinking and socialising alfresco. After all that fresh air you’ll be ready to hit the sack and the beauty of Mermaid House is that no matter what combination of guests there are in your party there will be a bedroom for you. Take your pick from three king-sizes, a family room or a twin. All are beautifully presented and offer a restful oasis away from the chaos of the main house. Waking up in the morning you’re already in a great location with Lyme Regis just a short walk where you will find a great selection of shops, bars, galleries, boutiques, tearooms, pubs and restaurants plus Cobb Harbour and Causeway, a museum and aquarium and of course, a fantastic beach. For some great days out from Lyme Regis check out Lyme Bay boat trips or for an adrenaline-fuelled activity, try a rib ride. We always appreciate the well equipped kitchen. The rooms are comfortable and have everything needed. The location is superb - be warned you won't bother getting your car once it is in the carpark and you will be fit by the end of your stay!

My only criticism is that the trellising on the top garden is very flimsy and our children wanted to walk along the wall, as children do. Of course, we stopped them from doing that, but it would be better to have a safe barrier on a high wall in a family house. We are definitely intending to book again!
