From Orford Quay, a ferry will take you across the River Alde to the serene Orford Ness National Nature Reserve – Europe’s largest stretch of shingle spit, offering over 2,000 acres of secluded marshlands and mudflats. Along the coast you can spend a day in the traditional coastal town of Aldeburgh (11 miles), known for its association with Benjamin Britten. Inland, the Snape Maltings concert hall lies to the north (5 miles).
