What our customers say about their holidays

  • Lucy - Verified booking

We had a fantastic stay at Westfield.

The house is in a great location with views of the castle walls and is just a short pleasant walk into Conwy. We have already recommended the house to friends and we would certainly return if we visit Conwy again. There was so much to do in the area that we will no doubt visit again in the future as a week wasn’t long enough. The house had everything that we needed during the week and our stay was very comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised by the ease of parking despite there being an extremely busy charging car park nearby. We were able to park almost or directly in front of the property every day. The bedrooms were pleasant and comfortable. Our son (15) slept in the smaller front bedroom and enjoyed the view from the window. He found the high sleeper a little creaky but had the choice of beds and was happy and comfortable sleeping in the lower bed. There was no wardrobe in that room to hang shirts but he wasn’t too bothered by that. Our other son (17) had the twin bedroom and would have liked to use both beds as a king double but the two singles pushed together were fine as long as he remembered the gap in the middle. He also had the views of the castle to enjoy. Our double room at the back was adequate for our requirements. The bed was very creaky to begin with but we tightened the bolts and it was much improved. The resident jackdaws seemed to like eating breakfast from the gutters above the window in the early morning but if the windows were closed, the excellent glazing blocked out the noise. The bathroom was lovely with plenty of space and a pleasant separate shower in particular was nice. The kitchen dining and utility spaces were great and well equipped. Almost everything was provided in the kitchen including salt and pepper, cleaning products, some delicious Welsh Cakes and there was milk in the fridge when we arrived. The only things we missed was a replacement kitchen bin bag which we couldn’t find and there was no kitchen roll provided on the holder but that was certainly not a necessity or expected. Plenty of things were provided that we wouldn’t expect such as luxurious Cushelle toilet rolls, nice hand wash, and plenty of washing pods and dishwasher tablets. The living room was very cosy with the blinds down and the table lamps on and lovely and airy with the windows open during the day. We enjoyed sitting in the bay smelling the lavender in abundance in the front garden. It was too warm to light the fire but we would have loved to use the materials provided to make a real fire. We didn’t make use of the books or games but there was a good selection. The central main light worked on its brightest setting but the bulbs in the fitting were not designed for the dimmer switch and flickered if the dimmer was used. We ideally would have dimmed the lights as it was less cosy with the light on full. We would recommend finding some bulbs that confirm they can be used with a dimmer. I hope this feedback is useful to whoever is reading. We have had a superb holiday in Conwy and will remember the area and our holiday house fondly. Westfield was a brilliant option for our family and we therefore highly recommend it as a place to stay while exploring Conwy and the surrounding area.

The cottage is quaint and quirky but, there’s ‘shabby chic’ and shabby and lots of the cottage is shabby.

The toilet roll holders are quite disgusting and need replacing immediately and as I have seen commented in previous reviews, the kitchen really should be replaced. Old wooden cupboards are not hygienic. The door mats need replacing and the lighting in the kitchen is quite poor. The light switches could be labelled as we never did find out what we were switching on and off. I appreciate we were there over a bank holiday and assume that was why all the recycling bins were still full. It would certainly help for a clear written list to be provided to explain what can be recycled as I think every authority in the country have their own ideas on what can and cannot be recycled. I did my best but with no bags or containers to put anything in it was difficult. Also there were no bags provided to put the bedding into as had been requested in the cottage information. Another thing which would have been good would be to have this years leaflet/brochures on hand to be able to look at things to do. There were so many old leaflets, a drawer full but all out of date. I know this review sounds quite negative but we did have a lovely week and enjoyed the wonderful views and the children and dogs loved the gardens.

I booked Palau Farm for a surprise family get together for my wife’s 60th birthday and all I can say is ‘wow’.

The location is amazing and the views stunning. The property itself was perfect for us with the large open plan kitchen and seating area at one end with doors opening up to that view providing a great place to sit and chat/play board games and eat. The kitchen and utility room were extremely well equipped although a vacuum cleaner and broom would have been useful to be able to tidy up before leaving. Had it been cold enough to use, the wood burner and supply of wood in the lounge the other end of the property would have been another great facility. We couldn’t get the Sky boxes to work but the internet was reliable and fast enough for the ample supply of apps pre loaded on the TV’s to provide something to watch in the evenings. During the day, who needs tv with a view like that! Many hours spent watching the sheep and goats roaming in the farms ground. The icing on the cake for us was standing outside and seeing the Northern Lights. Not supplied by the property :) but a fantastic part of our time there. We have only been back a day and are already missing the views. A big thank you to the owner for the effort put into making Pyllau Farm a fantastic holiday home, we will definitely be returning.

Perfect location and lovely house and gardens Brilliant for us with 3 dogs.

Perfect small garden from lounge to let them out while I got my morning coffee. The also enjoyed the larger secure gardens with the freedom to roam. They throughly enjoyed their holiday as well as their adventures to the beach. We also loved it nice kitchen. Log fire in the lounge was used liked by us and the dogs. Kitchen nicely done and the lovely downstairs floors. Although only 2 of us with 3 dogs this was perfect for us. And the views are amazing. The cleaning arrangements good a shame previous guests must have left such a mess and not used bins and recycling for the correct day. Only small items that can easily be rectified Bread knife for the kitchens please and bath and sink plugs need new chains. Dog toys get lost under the kitchen cabinets Would recommend to families and those with dogs. Very good property if we come that way again we would definitely chose Conway Cottage /Cumryd Uchaf to stay.

We had a lovely time at the farm house.

Few problems with the water supply but Welsh water were excellent in fixing and helping out. Spoke to the owner she was lovely and could not help out enough. IT was a real change from city life and gave a very good feeling of the country life and the history over the hundreds of years. The dogs loved the space but be warned the grass is full o bees at this time of year and one of ours had a very bad time for a few days but that's the risk of the country life and that's what you get with this farm house a wonderful country experience after a life time of BIrmingham city life. just a tip for the owner the cleaning company are not helping you the cooker was so bad it took hours to clean before it could be used but apart from that it is a lovely farm house and a great experience with fantastic views over the estuary and country side. Thank you.
