  As stated in the previous two reviews, this property was not clean.

  The toilet had long black hair stuck to it and weeks of grime on the seat; the bath and floor also hadn't been cleaned. The carpets throughout had not been vacuumed and the two red chairs and settee were covered in long, cream coloured dog hairs. The beams in the large bedroom had several webbs and cellar spiders in most corners. A previous review stated the bins were overflowing upon arrival, this seems to have been rectified by not providing a bin! There was a small, dirty food waste bin on the window sill in the kitchen, but nothing provided for general waste. I called Sykes Cottages who arranged for the cleaner to return. Upon arrival the cleaner apologised and stated her partner cleaned downstairs, while she was responsible for changing the linen upstairs (clean bedding and towels were provided). The cleaner spent around 5 minutes in the bathroom then came out and asked me to inspect it; she then offered to vacuum the settee and chairs, which she did. I thanked her and told her she could go as she said she had a BBQ to attend that evening. After she left, I cleaned the bathroom and vaccumed properly, whilst my husband cleaned the kitchen sides and cupboards. It is a shame that the property is dirty because you can see that the owner has spent a lot of money on the decor and furnishings. The property is pretty and is in an ideal location for the harbour, pubs and shops. There is a steep hill to climb into the main town, which was not a problem for us as we do a lot of dog walking. When we booked the cottage at the beginning of the year, the reviews were good and it's only recent ones which are not.

  What a wonderful find Y Stabl was.

  It was exactly as described in the details and the photos did it justice. Steve met us when we arrived, showed us around and explained a few things. He is very friendly, helpful and would have been approachable had we have needed any further assistance. But, then he left us to enjoy our holiday. The cottage is very interesting, homely and had lots of tourist information to help you decide where to visit. There are also DVDs, books and games. The bed was so incredibly comfortable. The cottage is set in a peaceful location with only the occasional (once a day) passing car. The hot tub was a daily delight especially after a day of walking. Robes and extra towels are provided for the hot tub. It was very clean and hygienic. There is a fish pond and water feature in the garden and even when the jets were off, it was so relaxing to sit in the hot tub listening to the trickling sounds and the birdsong. We feel like we've been on a spa retreat. It's an ideal location for reaching both coasts. So many beautiful walks to do. But, also plenty of lovely towns to explore when the weather isn't favourable. We would definitely recommend a stay here.

  Just returned from a fabulous week at Y Stabl and thoroughly enjoyed it.

  Great base for exploring South Wales. Cottage is lovely and has everything you need. We cooked 5 nights out of 7 and had no problems. Steve greeted us on arrival and gave us the tour and some tips on where to walk, which is what we intended doing. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about the area and rightly so! Lower Town Fishguard is gorgeous and I’m a little in love with the place. The weather was so hot we actually found using the jacuzzi at the end of a long day to be too warm! We went in later and later to try and enjoy it for longer. It was lovely though! Goodwick is a lovely little town and we found the people to be so friendly it was like home from home. That was the case everywhere we went! Our only negative was the cottage felt a little damp, but to be fair the constant rain but warm weather up to our week would have contributed. We were lucky so just opened the windows and it made a difference. Nothing worth complaining about though and certainly didn’t spoil our brilliantl week, and I would recommend this to family and friends as a cracking place to stay and Steve and his wife are the best hosts!   The picture is deceiving, probably my fault I should have been more thorough but I thought I was booking a one floor cottage from the picture.

  I booked this for a short getaway for my 92 year old mum having just lost her husband of 70 years. It turns out that this picture is the rear of the property, all the bedrooms were up a flight of stairs, very difficult for my mum and the bathroom was up and down steps even more difficult especially in the night. There was a tripping hazard from the archway of the lounge area on route to the kitchen and stairs to first floor. It was very cold in the cottage and no logs to light the fire until we asked for them, on lighting the fire the room was filled with smoke which played havoc with our breathing, not good for my mum's asthma. The kitchen bin was overflowing with rubbish from previous guests and there was evidence of rodent mess in the cupboard. The curtains over the door an archway are in need of cleaning or replacing. I tried several times to get hold of an agent to sort these problems and eventually got someone to come out to rectify, the bunch of flowers he brought to pacify us were a nice gesture but in no way made up for the disappointing start to our vacation

  We had a lovely long Bank Holiday break at Y Stabl.

  We walked in and immediately felt at home, Steve was so kind and showed us everything we needed as well as pinging us during the long journey there. We settled straight way and got the wine and food on. The equipment was adequate for what we needed, and we managed spaghetti bolognaise, a stew and a pork Sunday lunch (we cook a lot as part of our diet needs)! The welcome basket was lovely, and I don’t think there was anything left by the time we did! The walks were also lovely, and we found plenty of places to sit and have lunch along the way. The weather was kind, and we thoroughly enjoyed the jacuzzi to get back to, nice and simple to use, and the privacy was also fine as you are quite out in the countryside. It was also lovely to read how many people have been coming there for many many years – when the swimming pool was there! Again, thank you we needed to rest our heads and hearts and we able too
