What our customers say about their holidays

Great location for everything but if you want peace and quiet itâs not for you!
The property is single glazed and you can hear everything on the street below especially so at the weekends with the close proximity of bars etcâ¦â¦. Oh and the seagulls dancing on the roof at crack of dawn!! I would agree with previous reviews that it is looking tired and dated and it could do with another toilet when fully occupied with 6. The 3rd bedroom is tiny and just fits a kingsize bed in along with the slope of the ceiling itâs really only suitable for young children. We had to turn the mattresses on the beds and zip together as we had it as twins originally but they dipped in the middle and one of our granddaughters ended up sleeping face down in the gap with her sister rolling on top of her! The cleanliness was not to our standard, I know the owner had a private cleaning company in before us as they were away but it wasnât great. There was a lot of mould in the shower all along the sealant edges and up the sides and the door seals â¦..so after a day of tolerating it both myself and my daughter in law set too and cleaned it up! A squirt of bleach wouldnât go amiss either in the toilet as very stained! In the kitchen the microwave hadnât been cleaned and was dirty inside and had grease splatters up the side from cooking on the hob next to it. ! We also had to clean the splash back from the hob as it was thick with grease from cooking and the toaster was covered in crumbs! There was also a dirty light switch in the kitchen. The cupboards are full of cleaning products they just need using! Plenty of cooking utensils, crockery etc. There are a lot of stairs in the property so not suitable for the less able bodied, our granddaughters loved the quirkiness of it though. Great views from the balcony and we were very comfortable. There is a parking permit for 1 car and you have to park in specified zones so you canât see your car. Any other vehicles can usually find parking up near the station (harder at weekend) as it is predominantly parking permit zone area.

We were a group of four adults, and we all had a great time.
It was a Christmas booking and I had asked if we could take some decorations. Steve the owner said he was going to do that anyway and the place was magical with a big tree in the living room corner and lit garland over a bookcase etc. We took a few of our own as well. The apartment is very spacious and rambling but in a great way. Shower was very good and a great tub to soak in too. The kitchen was great and well kitted out but no dishwasher which was fine. Views across to the sea and old cottages , houses and the castle from a large window in the kitchen and a good-sized table for us all to eat around. The beds were huge and very very comfortable, and we slept well every night. The living room fronts Front Street and its many bars and restaurants and gets busy at weekends but as the bedrooms are high up it didn't disturb us. On arrival we had rather a lot of luggage and Steve asked his son to help us with the climb up the stairs which was a great help. Tynemouth was great and there were plenty of restaurants, bars, gift and clothes shops. We particularly liked Davanti Classico next to Tynemouth station. Their pizzas and steaks are freshly made and prepared and the portions and quality of the sauces and pasta dishes were amazing. Finally, I would like to thank Steve our host and his welcoming wife, and son for the attention and assistance they gave us. Nothing was too much trouble especially from Steve. Thanks very much from all four of us.

Firstly the positives: the location is excellent - being able to see the sea out of the side window was a huge positive, as is the green space in front of the property.
Tynemouth is a short walk away as are a few lovely beaches. The living room is beautiful - lovely high ceilings with original details and modern décor which complemented the room. Yes, the bedroom is tight for space, but this is not much of an issue when you have such a lovely and large main living room to sit in and enjoy. Unfortunately there were a few niggles: Although we were very grateful for being able to move into another property when it was clear that the Internet connection did not work this did lead to stress and we lost at least two hours chasing this issue and then moving from one location to another. Relying on other guests to clean the dishes ready for the next guests is all well and good, but these should be checked when the cleaning is done in between guests. Two mugs had disgusting white deposits in the bottom and goodness knows what the sticky, oily substance was which was lining the cutlery drawer. In the end we washed items before we used them to be on the safe side and then didn't put them back into the cupboards! Additionally I'm not sure when the living room was last vacuumed thoroughly - my husband found bits of tinsel and Christmas tree needles on the floor (this was at the end of January). Overall the location was excellent, the flat was decorated well, but the cleaning was poor and the broken Internet, although resolved, did cause issues.

A holiday home of 2 halves.
What a lovely living room as expected given the type of property. Spacious and grand. Lots of extras/gimmicks in the property like an Alexa but missed key fundamentals. Was dumbfounded at the lack of tea/coffee and milk as these have without fail always been provided previously in the many Hoseasons/Sykes and similar holidays I've booked. So the second half of the property, well, it's a shame about the bedroom and shower room. With lots of twists and turns and protrusions the place really isn't suitable for any people who are - how can I put this kindly - generously proportioned. No idea why a double bed with a large wooden frame was provided in such a pokey room. A divan would have been better and wouldn't have bruised my leg and no doubt others staying there. A sleigh bed as well. No good for anybody of above average height. Pillows were too full as well. They should be thinner. We couldnt sleep on them. Not something I've ever had an issue with anywhere else. The boiler was powerful and radiators hot but why oh why fit a piddly 8.5KW shower. I really struggled to get wet. Either go for a higher power electric one or just run a thermostatic one off the boiler. So all in all a lovely living room but the rest leaved a lot to be desired. And the old fella living there who chucks his glass bottles loudly into his recycling bin at 6.30 EVERY morning was the icing on the cake.

Location Location Location.
What a fabulous apartment in the heart of Tynemouth. Fabulous views of the sea and the abbey from the balcony. Steve met us on arrival and even carried our very heavy suitcase up the stairs. Iâm sure he could have done with a glass of the Prosecco that he had kindly given us as a welcome gift. The apartment has a large kitchen, living room and 3 bedrooms all with king size beds. The 3rd bedroom is smaller as stated in the property description. I think it would be a bit of a squeeze for 2 adults but as a party of 5 it met our needs. The weather was fabulous so we spent most of our time on the balcony admiring the views. Steve was a really fabulous host. He answered any questions promptly. The welcome gift of milk tea coffee and Prosecco was a lovely gesture. As a group we have been coming to Tynemouth for the last 7 years. I think we have found our go to accommodation.
