What our customers say about their holidays

We did not stay at this property.
The area is unpleasant and very run down. The whole property was filthy with dust, grime and cobwebs. Furniture is tatty and paintwork needs redoing. Patio doors could not be used and there were no other windows to open downstairs meaning it was stifling. The layout was very unusual and I felt very claustrophobic. The door to the back of the property was extremely dirty and the steps outside leading up to a very unusable 'roof garden' were covered in moss, winter leaves and rubbish. It was a disgrace and obviously hadn't seen a clean for months. The owner said it would have taken 2 minutes to brush. Not the case. I was so upset and just couldn't have stayed there a moment longer. There is a dog next door that also barked constantly. The owner did offer to come and clean, bring a TV for the bedroom and brush the leaves but nothing could have rectified our feelings about this property. Sykes have advertised and misrepresented this property completely and it should not he allowed This cost a lot of money for 3 nights and I will never book with sykes again. Both the owner and sykes have refused to refund or compensate in any way even though photographic evidence has been provided. I've had to ring sykes several times as they have not replied or returned calls when promised. They do not want to know and I feel so strongly about how others should be warned. I will be taking this further. Avoid this place at all costs

We had a wonderful holiday at Aster Cottage, the perfect home from home to explore North Wales.
The cottage is in a fantastic location with stunning views or the coast and Snowdonia National Park, Iâll miss waking up to those views! We had a nice message from Sophie, the owner, on arrival. The kitchen was very well equipped, as was the living room with comfy sofas and large tv. The stairs were very steep, but there was a stair gate to put at the top for our toddler so we managed fine. The free standing bath is fab, although a bit slower to get ready with no shower. We ran out of gas a couple of times, which meant no heating, hot water or ability to cook whilst it was getting sorted, but Sophie was very quick and accommodating and replaced it as quickly as possible, even on a Sunday when there were few places open to buy new gas canisters. The village of Dyserth is lovely and has a beautiful waterfall within short walking distance - a must see. We had a toddler with us who was a bit under the weather so did less walking than weâd have liked, but had lovely family days out with our dog exploring the village, at Llandudno, Prestatyn beach front, Bodnant Gardens, and a trip to Llanberis to do the Lake Railway. Small note that many things in the area are closed in February, which we knew and planned for. It was nice a quiet! Would definitely recommend and hope to return one day!

I have known the existence of this holiday cottage for years and wanted to stay largely due to many positive reviews.
Initial reactions on being shown in by the owner were good. Spacious and warm and clean. I think what stuck in my mind was seeing pictures of an Aga and reading comments from previous holiday makers about the lovely warmth it gave. It's been replaced by a very lovely electric range which is only warm whilst in use. The night storage heaters are not adequate for such an old stone dwelling and several were not working at all. A little kindling and wood is provided but would only be sufficient for up to two short evenings. After that you have to buy your own logs which we were reluctant to do for several reasons. Basic warmth and continual ongoing warmth should be included at the owners expense. The en suite bedroom smells of damp (from the shower) and there's a lot of damp in the conservatory. We weren't really able to use the conservatory due to the very wet and windy weather which was a shame as the sofa in there is more comfortable than the one in the living room. Overall it wasn't a bad holiday and the place is ok overall. We have stayed in far better and worse. In the summer months it might be very different. With the patio doors in the big bedroom flung open and the conservatory ones it would be lovely in sunny weather.

Had a lovely stay here, owners were really friendly and helpful, they live next door but were not intrusive, was nice chatting to them about the area etc.
LOVED Bella the pony in the paddock next to the cottage and tramp the cob horse in one next to that. Great cottage, everything you need for a comfortable stay. There is now a new comfy fabric corner sofa in the conservatory and the brown sofa seen in current photos of the conservatory is now in the lounge area replacing the bar stools by breakfast bar. we loved our stay, the only comment/recommendation I would make is maybe get some new pillows as the ones had a slight greasy hair smell, but I just bought myself some to use as I needed new ones at homes anyway. The tv worked perfectly fine for us after I realised the first day that the cable had worked lose at the back of the tv once I moved the bracket arm. Wifi and phone signal were good, in fact better than we have at home. Nice to hear the Steam trains going past and the sound of the river was relaxing. Would return again in the future without a doubt if we come back to the area. great location to visit all the places in North wales we wanted to visit. Was nice and rural without being remote. great secure garden for our dog.

We had a wonderful stay at Aster cottage.
The cottage is situated in a beautiful village with fabulous views across to the coast. The cottage is well appointed and relaxing - the only improvement would be a shower instead of just a bath with a hand held shower (although due to the layout of the cottage I understand that this is probably not possible) and the stairs are steep which may be useful to know for elderly people (and elderly dogs!) - there is a baby gate though which is helpful. The local area is stunning and we visited Llandudno and Betws-y-Coed which were beautiful. There is a pub (Y-Bodunig) 5 minutes walk away which was dog friendly and a 10 minute walk down to the waterfall where there are another two pubs. Just outside of the village is a gorgeous dog friendly pub in Cwm which is lovely with great food and within walking distance. We found Dyserth to be friendly and welcoming and the small lane where the cottage is situated is lovely and quaint. Parking is tight but this could just be down to me not being the best driver! All in all, a gorgeous cottage in a lovely relaxing area.
