  A beautiful, well equipped house....that needs some TLC and a clean

  The Silverlake estate is amazing. Lots to do for families, a really nice outdoor pool, walks, play park, etc. The house itself was perfect for a group of friends with kids. It was well equipped and spacious, with plenty of seating including a nice deck out the front. However, it really should have been cleaned better prior to our arrival and overall needs some TLC. There were several areas that were so dusty and full of cobwebs with dead flies all over the place. There were used cotton buds on the floor in one of the bathrooms. A dirty pillow case. The tumble drier filter was overflowing with fluff, which is a fire hazard. The bed on the top floor was so creaky and felt like it was about to fall apart. Several glasses had been left with lipstick stains and had to be washed before use. Several kitchen items damaged (e.g. broken corkscrew, broken knives). In summary, the house and estate are great, but for the amount paid I would have expected a higher standard of cleaning and for some things in the property to be in better condition.

  ‘The Hide’ is a truly lovely retreat, the décor is stylish and the views are beautiful. The house is well equipped with everything you could possibly need during your stay, along with many thoughtful touches, such as board games and books. There is plenty to do at Silverlake between the pool, hurricane terrace and spa, water sports, zip wire and lots of lovely walking trails. We can also recommend take away pizzas from the shack! It is ideally located for exploring the abundance of nearby beauty spots – we enjoyed day trips to Weymouth, Poole, Studland Bay and Lyme Regis. For eating out, we had great food at The Black Dog Inn and The Frampton Arms (both have children’s play areas too). All in all, we had an incredible week and made lots of lovely memories. Thank you for opening up your home to us, we will definitely return for another visit.

  A wonderful week with so much sunshine! Walking everyday. Places of note – Kimmeridge Bay and Clavells restaurant for lunch, the Swannery at Abbotsbury and RSPB Arne – we love the birds! Here at The Hide we have been treated to visits from pied wagtails on the fence, a robin, a heron, an egret, a small flock of reed bunting, a sandmartin seen feeding on the water, the noisy Canada geese and best of all, a murmuration of starlings visiting about 6.30pm and landing on the lawn before taking off in formation.
