What our customers say about their holidays
Emma - Verified booking
We loved the location of this property it was absolutely perfect.
We know Weymouth well but have never stayed this end before and we loved it. Literally have everything we needed on the doorstep which was excellent. The welcome pack was a really lovely touch, and the beds being made up and towels being provided was really helpful since we didnât have to bring our own! The surprising thing is how quiet it is, since itâs a busy walk way with lots of pubs and restaurants and families crabbing but it was lovely and quiet all week. Bliss! The property itself is really lovely but there are a few things that would make it even better, the furniture in the living room is very old and not very comfortable. The small table is very wobbly! The booklet says there were basic cleaning facilities but in all honesty we didnât find any that would have been useful to give the place a clean, we bought our own so it was fine but maybe consider checking what is available. The oven inside was spotless but the top of the oven wasnât as clean, we didnât cook often and gave it a clean ourselves but again itâs worth checking yourselves. Like I said I didnât mention it because we didnât cook often but if you are paying for the property to be cleaned then you need to be aware of something if it isnât quite perfect! The key safe was easy to open when we arrived but I found it impossible to re lock it on the last day, in fact it pinched the top of my finger tip, I walked the keys back to the office and explained this and the lady kindly accepted them and said she would contact the cleaner. The cleaner was outside the property while we waited for our cab to the station and asked me where the key was and I said I literally just walked it back to the office, she said there wasnât an office, I offered to walk with her but she said no. In fact she was rude. These little things did not spoil our holiday at all and it wouldnât prevent me from recommending the property but I always like to be honest in the hope that you can make the necessary improvements.

We were not able to check in until 5PM due to the extended time needed for the cleaning, which considering the check out time for the previous guests was 10am, meant there was seven hours cleaning time.
It also meant that a large proportion of the first day of our holiday was over by the time we had unloaded our cars and put our things away. Unfortunately, there were a number of issues: Half an opened bottle of squash left on the floor in the living room. A cup with lipstick on it. Some kitchen cupboards had not been cleaned. The inside of the kitchen bin was dirty. The dustpan was warped and not fit for purpose. A piece of carpet, used as an outside doormat resulted in wet footprints over the floor when coming in from outside. Stains on mattress protectors on both beds on the first floor. Garden furniture appeared not to have been cleaned for a very long time. Inside windows were dirty. The toaster only has one side working. Add to that that there wasn't any non slip mats in the shower trays and one shower tray kept overflowing. As stated in some reviews the lounge suite was probably the most uncomfortable we've ever sat on. Also, beds were not the most comfortable but appreciate they might suit others. On the positive side, there was a reasonable amount of space and it was in a well appointed area.

We loved our stay.
The location is perfect - close enough to the beach and shops etc that you aren't having to drive every day; parking was largely fine; there was space to pull up outside to unload before parking up properly when there wasn't a space right outside; the view was wonderful (highly recommend an early morning coffee out in the harbour wall). We would have liked to have rated it more highly, but the cleaning and maintenance let the place down on first impressions, which started our week off poorly. The cooker hood was thick with dust, a big wad of tissue which had obviously been used for cleaning something had been left on a dining chair, there were crisps and medication on the living room floor, and a plug socket hanging off the wall in the twin bedroom, as well as lots of discolouration around the bath. I reported this through the Sykes app and had no response at all. When I queried the lack of response almost a week later, I was effectively told that if I wanted a response, I should have called. Not great customer service at all! But if it weren't for those points, we'd have rated our stay much higher.

House is very spacious, clean and well equipped.
the good size back yard has high walls so is safe for children. About 10 minutes walk to the harbour, beach and lovely town. Parking space at the back is only suitable for a small car as the piece of wood on the side has a raised bolt ( which we found to our cost after gouging the car door!) Front parking is fine. The back bedroom double bed has wooden slats , there are broken and have been mended by putting a strut in the middle, meaning the mattress slopes to each side ( needs replacing as very uncomfortable) and the thermostatic valve doesnt work in that room. the timer on the boiler is very hit and miss so we had it either on or off. Couldnt use the pool table at all as the cue tips need attention and no chalk. wooden triangles are also too small for the balls. A shame as they advertise that as a big thing. Lots of little bits for children, such as smaller cutlery, a lovely idea. Plenty of places to visit and we ran out of days. Ashley Heath boot fair is HUGE. near to Wimbourne. All in all, a lovely house and we loved Weymouth

Fantastic cottage, lots of equipment provided (saucepans, toaster, microwave, microwaveable dishes, oven, roasting/pie pans, fridge/freezer, cutlery and crockery).
Towels, soap and washing up/dishwasher tablets provided. Comfortable seating and a really good sized dining table. Plenty of entertainment in the cottage with books, DVDs, Sky TV and jigsaws. The beds were all good. The 'child sized' single is suitable for a shorter adult, I'm, 5'2" and slept very well on it. Dishwasher and washing machine worked very well and rotary line provided in the courtyard. All the family (adults only) loved the cottage. Parking is a bit hit and miss as the permit zones are also available for 1 hour without a permit but generally found a space, but there are plenty of car parks near by if you can't find one. Plenty to do in Weymouth in walking distance from the cottage. The building work didn't disturb us and was an advantage as it meant the road was closed so pedestrian access only.
