What our customers say about their holidays
Stjohn - Verified booking
This is a very good property, and the space is great.
It was well-positioned in the centre of Buxton, easy to park two cars, and extremely comfortable except for one bedroom (hence losing one mark). The house is very well equipped. It was easy to park, and Morrisons is only a walk away. You could have a good holiday here without a car, as everything is so close. Of the three double bedrooms, one has the boiler in, with a sign to not switch it off. However, having the boiler on meant the room roasted, and was extremely difficult to sleep in. Also, the boiler timer ticked incessantly all night, and anyone switching a tap on made a very loud noise in the pipes in that room. You could also hear any noise in the room below from there. My son and his wife who were in the room did switch the boiler off so they could sleep, which meant we had no hot water to shower in the morning until he woke up and we could switch it on again. Inside the house was very clean. However, outside, the gate to the neighbour's back yard was broken and off its hinges (and we had a dog with us), and the passage between the two houses was scruffy, particularly compared to others in the row, with broken slates, etc. on the ground (hence one mark off for cleanliness). Overall, we were very pleased with our stay, which we felt was better than our expectations.

I first stayed in The Nest in 2014.
Back then it was warm and comfortable, but small, basic and a bit dark. It has now been transformed! If you have stayed before you wouldn't recognise it now. The new Nest has been extended out into a neighbouring room under the roof (the old laundry) and two Velux windows have been added, one in the new kitchen area and one in the new bathroom. The result is a gorgeous spacious and airy apartment. It's really comfortable, and the underfloor heating and high levels of insulation keep it lovely and cosy. The kitchen is very well equipped (the dinky dishwasher is genius). The dining table opens out easily to a good-sized circle. The living area has all you need, and there is plenty of storage in the bedroom. The bathroom is smart, light and airy. The Nest was spotlessly clean when I arrived, and I was very glad of the welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk and biscuits. All in all, a beautifully done transformation. Congratulations to Andrew and Lucy for doing this. I really enjoyed my stay and will definitely be back!

The Nest is cosy and wonderfully located for exploring the Peak District.
The bed was very comfy and the kitchen well equiped for simple Cooking. Unfortunately the shower was not working and was on a cycle of freezing cold or scolding hot no matter how I adjusted the settings. Maybe I missed something obvious but I donât think I did. If you are a light sleeper like me I would maybe avoid as the fridge was very noisy and being a studio flat it was close to the bed. The noise of people moving about upstairs was also very loud. If you are unlucky enough as me to get people that wander around for an hour in the middle of the night it can disturb your sleep. That being said if you are a heavy sleeper or things like that donât bother you then itâs a comfortable stay and Iâm sure the shower issue will be fixed as I did inform the property. It really is well located and there is a great footpath that starts just outside the farm leading to beautiful countryside.

Whilst the property itself was well presented and tastefully furnished, there are some issues to feedback.
Firstly the grass had not been cut, it was at least 12â high, we therefore had to cut it before we could use the garden. The garden was not enclosed, as our 2 small dogs were able to get through the ornate fencing, we therefore had to create a barrier with bin bags, not ideal and not very relaxing. One bathroom, especially 1 toilet, for 2 families was a push; no shower mat and no bath mat provided; no proper bin; no recycling instructions - had to go on line to look these up; no stair gate to prevent dogs going upstairs; bike store locked so unable to be used; âon leavingâ cleaning instructions were unbelievable! Really do you expect guests to do that, yes leave it clean and tidy but not go to that extreme.

Buxton was a great spot for our break and the house was very well situated, an easy walk into the town centre and to the large supermarket.
The welcome pack was superb and the provision of logs for the wood burner was greatly appreciated and saw us through the first 2-3 days. Lots of books, games and jigsaw puzzles was a nice touch too. The kitchen was a good size, with all key appliances and the first floor bathroom was very good. Living room chairs very comfortable and the dining table was a good size, plenty big enough for 6 people. The beds were all very comfortable, everyone slept well. We did have a small issue with the dishwasher, and the owners responded really quickly to get it sorted. The on-street parking was easier than we had feared, even when we had three cars there. Overall, a very enjoyable stay.
