What our customers say about their holidays

The cottage itself was spotlessly clean both inside and out, considering it's in a farm location, and better than we expected.
If you were buying, you could move in so to speak. The owners, who lived next door were very helpful too. The location is very remote, walking to the local pub not an option, though plenty of on-site walks and cycling trails on wonderful open moorland. Our only issue (which for many we suppose would be a godsend), was the fact that there was no wifi, no mobile phone service, and the TV signal was poor to non existant. Though we were expecting these issues, to be without, came as a shock to the system, as we did have a medical issue, so not having access to a phone etc was a concern. However this is not a criticism. The farm had one of those scatty sheepdogs called Nellie who constantly wanted us to throw a deflated football so she could retrieve it for us. There was also a newly arrived kitten so new it had yet to be named. A lovely time, in a lovely cottage, in a wonderful location. On a negative note, the GOOGLEMAP picture directions which accompanied 'how to get to!' was a good mile off. We went to the location suggested in person, and although the farm looked similar to the aerial photo it was hopelessly wrong. Anyone arriving after dark or in poor weather would be seriously cheesed off. We think it's a googlemap issue as our own farm confirmed the postcode was correct, but the farm we were sent too was not in that postcode. *** We are happy for you to publish our observations but would like to remain anonymous. Thank You ***

A really nice cottage, with a homely feel.
Slightly quirky architecture on the inside, giving it a lot of character. The welcome folder contained useful info in a succinct way, which was perfect; too many holiday homes just leave appliance booklets to explain ultra modern technology - not what you want after a long and tiring drive. The kitchen was very well stocked with appliances and utensils and - oh sheer delight - a sink bowl and washing-up liquid! So many holiday homes forget those, too. There were some thoughtful details to make our stay even nicer, which we appreciated. The beds were very comfortable - even the bunk bed. Overall, everything in the cottage was as you'd hope (even better, in fact) except the sofa and chairs which unfortunately did not offer much support. However, these can be easily resolved, and might not be an issue at all for some families. The village itself is lovely, ideally placed and we were able to use its facilities without having to travel. The second-hand bookshop was a true delight, and the hairdresser on same road was perfect. We also managed to enjoy all three of the hostelries :-) The wider area is, of course, breathtaking. Definitely recommend.

A cosy and characterful property with helpful owners who lived next door.
Parking area spacious but there is a bit of a walk with your luggage. No welcome pack or spare toilet rolls so make sure you have all you need. Huge field at the end of the garden for exercising oneâs dog. The garden is enclosed but not secure, the field is enclosed but not secure. The location described on the Sykes map is totally inaccurate, as is the What3words address given. You canât walk to the pub along the road to the pub as it is very busy. There are footpaths either side but some stiles require fit people and fit dogs. The cottage was quite well furnished but lack of Wi-Fi could be an issue. The beds were very firm and the sofa very soft. The double bedroom was very cramped with a bedside table on one side only . I think with a bit of thought and some smart furniture changes, this could be remedied. We had a fantastic meal at The Bulls Head in Foolow and fish and chips at Tideswell, very dog-friendly area, even got invited into the deli with the dog for a treat.

We enjoyed our weekend in Exchange Cottage.
We didnât meet the owners, but communications with them were both prompt and helpful. We, too, had difficulty finding the cottage. Reference to the cafe next door might help, but it might also put people off since walls are thin in old properties and we were aware of conversations next door. The property is well renovated and kept perfectly clean. The kitchen is very well equipped but the table is, indeed, small and seating four adults for meals would be a squeeze, so in that respect this is more a property for two than for four. The fact that it opens directly on to the path on a busy street makes for quite a bit of noise, but the central location is very helpful in other respects and the property is certainly delightfully situated for touring the area. The second-hand bookshop opposite was a real bonus! Now we know exactly where it is and what to expect, weâd gladly return if looking for a place just for the two of us.

The cottage was in a great location in terms of accessibility to all main tourist places, however, I was shocked how busy the road was where the cottage was situated.
There were really huge articulated lorries going quite fast past the window, and I would have been nervous if my children were younger as there isn't much pavement. I am not sure if there is a quarry nearby but it felt wrong that such large vehicles were able to storm through a tiny village. I was also surprised to find out there was no outside space at all, not even a back door (not sure if this is even legal?). We didn't necessarily expect a garden but as a smoker, I had nowhere to stand outside at all, other than in the path of an articulated lorry! I am not saying that the owners should cater for smokers, it clearly says it is non-smoking, however, I would have made different choices if I had been given that information. Overall, the cottage was clean, comfortable and presentable and we really enjoyed our stay. However, I would not re-book due to those factors above.
