What our customers say about their holidays
Jonathan - Verified booking
We enjoyed our stay in Lucker.
It's a pleasant village dominated by holiday homes which gives it a slightly odd atmosphere but it makes a very good base for exploring Bamburgh, Alnwick and the Northumberland coast. Crispin is attractive, comfortable and nicely set next to a small river. The garden is fairly dog-proof (an agile dog could leap the fence, ours can't). The Apple Inn (three doors away) calls itself a gastro-pub, which is an exaggeration, but the food is very good and the staff are delightlful. Because it's a commercially run cottage (one of many run by the same company) Crispin lacks several of the more eccentric things one expects in family run places - there are no jigsaws with bits missing, battered books or bits of old kitchen equipment that should have been thrown out years ago. As with all cottages, you'll need to bring your own kitchen knives or a knife sharpener. You may also want to take a couple of pans, chopping boards, a casserole, a set of scales and a sieve - otherwise you'll be limited to simple meals (or you'll end up eating in the pub a lot). We had no significant problems during our stay. The fridge refused to work when we got there but was replaced within an hour and the maintenance staff were as friendly and helpful as everyone else we encountered. Overall, we had a lovely stay and will almost certainly return next year.

Pleasant holiday home which was a good base for us to explore the local area.
Lovely touch with a welcome gift and enjoyed the hot tub, (although some basic instructions would have been helpful). Would have been useful to have a few more hooks or a smaller airer inside for drying towels, and felt the instruction folder could have had a lot more information in it regarding local area/amenities, as well as WiFi password. Unfortunately we had no access to WiFi for the duration of the stay which with 2 teenagers was an inconvenience & while not the end of the world this did impact on trying to make plans for our time there. We arrived on a Sunday and contacted Skyes first thing Monday. They did not reply until Thursday afternoon and offered no apology for the delay and sent just a standard response which was not specific to Daisys retreat, suggesting that we check the router and/or ask at main reception which we had already done prior to contacting them. So while I would stay again at Daisys retreat, I would not book through Skyes cottages again for their very poor customer service.

The cottage (more of a house than a cottage) is tucked away down a quiet side street off the main road through Warkworth. You can drop a stone out of the hallway window into the River Coquet, that’s how close the river is. The property is finished to a very high standard with quality furniture and soft furnishings, and the welcome hamper is a cut above anything we’ve ever had at other holiday cottages. Great customer service too: we had a couple of issues that needed taken care of whilst we were there, both of which were dealt with promptly by the office (the owner of the cottage even came round and lent us an item from her own house to replace the broken one in the cottage). This is our first stay with Coquet Cottages but, based on this experience, it won’t be our last.

Absolutely fantastic stay at an exceptionally beautiful house with quality furniture and finished to a very high standard. It is rated 4 star strangely… it is 5 star throughout. To sit by the river at the front of the house and watch swans, herons, baby ducklings and their parents swim past was delightful and we were lucky enough to have the river Coquet to ourselves as the pavement was shut for works. Went back home totally relaxed. We normally always stay at Castle Street cottage which is equally as beautiful. We had a text from Coquet Cottages on the first day to ensure everything was ok which was really nice and great to get a reminder to put the bin out as well. Highly recommended.

Riverstone is a beautiful period cottage by the River Coquet in the gorgeous Northumberland town of Warkworth with artisan shops, pubs & a fabulous cafe (Bertram’s) a stones throw away. The beach is a leisurely 20 minute stroll & a gorgeous one it is too. The house is very spacious with 2 lounge areas, 3 bedrooms & a gorgeous bathroom with roll top bath and separate shower. We were super impressed by Coquet Cottages. Very communicative, checking in by phone to see if everything was OK & leaving a substantial hamper of treats/newspaper/milk/butter/coffee & tea as well as a vase of fresh roses. We absolutely loved our stay and can’t wait to return.
