What our customers say about their holidays

We absolutely loved it at Tump Cottage.
It was a last minute decision on the Thursday night, and booked for the following day. Lovely little village with lots of walks with the dog, over stiles and across fields. Did a 'mountain climb' in Uley, around Uley Bury iron age hill fort, which is only about 5 minutes drive away from Tump Cottage. Circular walk from Uley Church, and met quite a few hikers doing the same walk and a few just walking for leisure, like us. The Cottage was perfect, it had everything we needed, and we enjoyed the biscuits, crisps and cereal. We always take some of our own essentials (bread, milk etc) because you never know when you get to a place, whether the local shops will be open or whether you get there too late to get to a shop. The farm is lovely, chickens roaming around freely and doves in the barn. The lovely lady who does the day to day running of the cottages was really friendly and helpful and literally lives opposite, so no stress about trying to get hold of anyone if there were any problems. We would definitely recommend Tump Cottage.

Few points: - property managers were nice people.
- the heating was not able to be controlled by us and was subject to requesting heating is turned on. Which in a single glazing property this time of year was a bit rubbish. - there was numerous old duvet and pillows stashed around the property. These were old and stained. Not appealing. The actual duvet and pillows on the bed were not in great condition after we stripped the cases from them. - washing machine was full of stagnant water. Property had not been checked prior to our arrival. - no Hoover was provided so we couldnât easily pick up mud from when returning from walking. - the property had numerous stained carpet and also on the sofa/chairs upon our arrival along with the carpet. Didnât even appear as though cleaned. - WiFi was poor. - tv was an old model and wasnât great. - fold down bed was stuck in the dining room. - actual look of the building and location was lovely however the above marred our stay.

Absolutely beautiful cottage.
Everything provided, including washing up liquid, sponge and tea towels, as well as coffee, tea and sugar, that was a lovely surprise, we had taken our own milk though. Kitchen was well equipped, and enjoyed the welcoming biscuits, crisps and cereal. The bed was very comfortable and after very long walks, slept really well. A great location for Gloucester, Cheltenham and the main village we wanted to visit, Castle Coombe. Our 2 dogs enjoyed their stay, and lots of walks in the local area. The Woodchester park was awesome, if a bit muddy, but just what we needed. -- We will definately be back. We met the owners a couple of times -- extremely helpful and very friendly, also the was lovely sitting out side the cottage in the evening and watching the chickens wander about and come to investigate what we were up to - so cute.

Overall the cottage is well equipped however the bed and pillows we found extremely uncomfortable.
Mattress is very firm and pillows look fluffy and soft but werenât. Left a day early due to being unable to sleep. Maybe too rural for us too with a lack of a local shop and also local pub closed too. Listing said 3 pubs within 3 miles but only 2 of them are open. Heating was difficult to control it was either too hot or too cold and then heat just rises (naturally) and makes the bed area too warm. Good of you want an extreme rural holiday get away with a dog and bringing own food/groceries but if relying on local shops etc is difficult.

The property itself is lovely and was perfect for my husband, myself and our 2 small dogs.
The bed was relatively comfortable and the place was fairly well equipped. I did have to spray the bathroom with a mould cleaner as the grout near the shower was covered with black mould and also we had to wash the cups and cutlery as they were still dirty. The.microwave has seen better days and really needs replacing. These, on the whole, were minor issues and didnât affect the enjoyment of our stay.
