What our customers say about their holidays

Arrived at Marsh View for a four night stay on 7th October, from the moment we arrived and was welcomed by the owner and her two delightful dogs. Our stay here has been relaxing and peaceful. With fantastic views overlooking the river and marshes. The property is in excellent order and well equipped with all mod cons. The welcoming hamper of basic food bread, milk eggs, cereal etc is a very nice touch. All little things to make you feel welcome. The property is Set well back from the main road into Aldeburgh with no traffic noise. For the energetic a must, is the walk from the premises to Snape Malting around 4 miles following a well marked footpath through woodland, heather and wonderful views over the countryside along the way. Arriving at Snape Malting and in need of refreshments and lunch this was taken at the Café 1885 on the first floor. We both ordered the sea food platter which was delicious an excellent choice. After lunch we strolled around the many retail outlets. All the staff we encountered here were very friendly and helpful. Time was approaching 16:30 walking back to March View was out of the question, which would mean returning in the dark. Phoned for a local taxi which arrived within 15 mins to take us back to March View. The next day was spent exploring Aldeburgh sea side town, a stroll along the beach with its many huts selling freshly caught fish. quaint houses and unusual shops. We stopped for lunch at the Lighthouse restaurant in the high street which had been highly recommended to us. The food and choice on offer are is excellent. Our four day break soon came to a end. However, I’m sure we will be back again soon to explore this part of the world again. Thank you for making us feel at home. We will return.

The apartment was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The bed linen and towels were of a high quality and the apartment was very well equipped with everything you might need for the stay. It was in a very quiet location even though it was quite close to the main road into Aldeburgh. The views from the living room and bedroom were lovely and we were lucky that the weather was very nice so we took advantage of sitting in the beautiful front garden. The only negative is that the apartment is described as being within walking distance of Aldeburgh High Street. This is misleading as it is two miles along the busy Saxmundham Road with no footpath in places. This meant that we had to drive every evening into town to eat/drink which is not ideal if you have already been driving in the daytime. On the plus side there were several lovely walks close by to the apartment, in particular the Sailors Path which was only a hundred yards from the entrance to the property. We would definitely recommend Marsh View and hopefully will return next year.

Excellent location and hot shower but everything else is poor.
No BBQ or fire pit as advertised on the property listing. Could not light the stove as fuel provided would not light even with fire lighters and kindling. So not able to boil kettle for hot drink or heat the tent. This meant very cold nights. No welcome folder with instructions on how to work stove etc or who to contact for help. Would have been nice to have had some info about local area too. Bedding was stained. Poor attention to detail such as would be nice to have some hooks in shower area to hang clothes and towels, sink is too small to be able to fill bottles etc from tap. Description on website says electric heater which gives impression that there is electricity. There is but no sockets available for phone charging or hair dryer etc. This should be made clear on the description as well as no cooking facilities or cooking equipment. Overall a frustrating and cold weekend. Definitely camping not glamping.

Generally v clean but shower room could have been cleaner around the sink area and bottom of shower screen.
There were no shelves or hooks in the shower room for towels or toiletries which was a bit awkward. Although it was a very pleasant stay the price charged was a lot compared with other properties available for a long weekend in January considering the basic nature of the internal space. We loved the open field, the privacy and view but the fencing is not secure for small/ medium sized dogs. Our dog managed to crawl under the fence at the back but we caught him before an escape was made! All places we have stayed at with Sykes have a folder of useful information about local facilities and walks in the area, there wasnât one here which we missed. It was lovely to have a welcome gift for our dog which was appreciated. River Lodge was ideal for a long weekend and was conveniently walking distance of the supermarket and Aldeburgh itself.

We have had a fantastic one week stay at River Lodge.
What a peaceful place with beautiful views. The lodge is like a tardis. I managed to get our weeks worth of luggage all unpacked and neatly away. The bed was very comfy. The kitchen had everything we needed. The freezer was a good size for the space and really great for us as our dogs food is frozen. The TV was a nice little extra we werenât expecting and we could get all freeview channels. The enclosed wrap around garden was huge and our dog loved it. The fencing is excellent and totally enclosed. The local area was lovely with lots of places to eat and plenty of fresh fish. A Tesco and coop in walking distance was really handy. Even with all of this on our doorstep we felt like we were in a very peaceful and private spot. We would certainly recommend and would love to return. An excellent holiday had by all, such a fantastic place.
