  I stayed in Oak Barn from the 15th - 29th July due to the sale of my property completing early and needing somewhere to stay for me and my dog.

  On arrival I was really impressed with the location and how immaculate the farm is. I was greeted by Elaine at the farm house who then showed me round the barn, which I must was spotless. The welcome pack in the property was very useful to help me find the local pubs/shops and dog walks, however Elaine was kind enough to let me use the fields, as my Beagle loves his walks. The barn is set over-looking the fields and is peaceful in the day, apart from the usual noises you would expect from a working farm, however these were by no means intrusive. Its amazing watching Elaine's husband working the animals and maintaining the properties. At night the lack of light pollution means on a clear night the stars are amazing and great to sit and look at with a cold beer, its such a lovely place to stay. I must add that on the hottest day ever recorded in the UK there was an issue with a burst water main in the village, obviously this was a one off and not Elaine's problem, however within an hour of me noticing the issue Elaine returned with huge 5ltr bottles of water to make sure me and the dog were ok. This I thought was really considerate considering the family had enough issues trying to keep the animals hydrated. I must say Elaine and her family made me feel very welcome during my 2wk stay, always polite, asking how we were, and with smiles on their faces. The farm is great, the room was perfect for my needs and the local pubs and woodland we wonderful places to visit. I would like to thank Elaine, and her family for their hospitality

  We have just returned from a week at this fabulous holiday home.

  The garden is exceptional and completely secure - I think the dogs thought their Christmases had come all at once with the amount of space to run around in. It also has multiple seating areas, a BBQ, and the hot tub was an absolute bonus and loved by us humans. Only things to note are you have no back door directly for access into the garden, but this isn't an issue at all as it is a short distance from the door to gate and it is completely secure, and we were unlucky that the mosquitoes were out in force so make use of the repellent in the house. The hosts are on hand if you need them but very respectful and you have complete privacy if you choose. Louise was very kind to agree to allow us into Lincoln one day, leaving the dogs behind for a couple of hours which exceeded our expectations. The living area is cosy and we made good use of the log burner. The Co-op across the road was ideal for last minute bits. We had lovely walks through Rimac Nature Reserve and other local areas. We also must recommend Appleby's for their delicious ice cream. It was a lovely peaceful holiday made perfect by this wonderful cottage.

  Super little cottage in a great location.

  We had a wonderful stay. The cottage has a well equipped kitchen, A good sized bathroom with a lovely powerful shower. Plus, a super comfy bed. It was also good to be able to park right outside the property. Although, it's compact there is plenty of storage space upstairs. It was also spotlessly clean on arrival. It's situated in a great location to be able to enjoy all the wonderful industrial history (Unesco World Heritage Site which is right on the doorstep. However, if you choose, you can walk in the other direction for fantastic countryside walks with stunning scenery and views. Cromford station is only 15 mins walk away for trains to Derby and Nottingham. Or for simply travelling a few stops along the tracks and then walking back to the cottage along the Cromford Canal. All in all a great stay! We would definitely consider a return visit.

  We had an amazing stay at Tawny Owl cottage.

  Louise is a lovely host and has thought of everything needed for a home from home holiday. We really appreciated the welcome pack for both ourselves and our four legged friends, what a lovely touch. The property is genuinely dog friendly, no signs saying "don't do this" and "not allowed" that, throws were provided for the sofas and their comfort etc. The cottage is super comfortable and the garden and hot tub fabulous. We enjoyed a fair few hours out there with the pooches, enjoying a tipple at the tiki bar and a soak in the HUGE hot tub. The cottage is in a lovely area with lots to explore nearby. There's a pub within a 2 minute walk and a CO-OP across the road - very convenient if you fancy a cosy day in. All in all, couldn't fault it and can't wait to return which we definitely will.   Absolutely shocking behaviour by the owners.

  Due to a family health issue and my 73rd birthday on the first Saturday our daughter called to see us as she lives in Lincoln. She was upset about her father in law so we asked her to stay overnight. We never saw the owner before that but we then got a call from Sykes on the Sunday morning to say we had to leave the property immediately!!! They didn’t even come to speak to us for an explanation. Her home was attached to the property and she never even called to introduce herself or ask if everything was ok when we arrived. I wouldn’t recommend this property to anyone who is expecting a warm welcome from the owners especially considering she was there on site. We paid £800 for what amounted to a weekend away with no offer of any refund.
