What our customers say about their holidays

We went with our two Granchildren (10 & 8) for a Mon to Fri stay during half term.
We LOVED the flat and would have liked to return year in year out. My Grandaughter was on tears, she wanted to live there. I love the brightness of the flat, the space, everything. I would have given it 5 stars for everything. Two things let it down one to the point that I would not recommend the flat or return myself! The first is that, although the flat was acceptably clean, my husband found faecal matter all over the area of the toilet pan where the seat/hinge joins it. Iâm not talking about a tiny amount, enough to feel a bit sickened. We had to go out and get some disinfectant (I had cloths and gloves thankfully) this was the main bathroom. The en suite was fine. However, the thing that ruined the flat or me is the toilet in the en suite, it doesnât flush properly, you donât get a cistern load of water rush down like a normal loo, you get a slow dribble! Meaning matter sitting in the bottom of the loo for days! Nothing would get rid of it. I found a mop bucket and tried dumping a load of water in the toilet but it doesnât push anything away as it filled the pan with the water to the very top and then tricked slowly past the offending âparcelâ for want of a better word. We had to all use the other toilet, which equally didnât flush brilliantly but was better than the en suite! A few days later when it had finally gone, my husband filled the sink in the en suite with water to wash his face and when he pulled the plug, âbrown matterâ came back up into the toilet pan!! Ewwww disgusting! I also have to say the beds just werenât very comfortable! That could do with upgrading even the kids complained they werenât comfortable! I know your reply Iâll be that why didnât I call you about the toilet, but my husband said there was no point as itâs a design fault of the toilet and the waste pipe not allowing a bucket of water to be flushed away. So no point calling you. The en suite even had a plunger in the bathroom (which we tried but that still didnât clear the problem, so Sykes and the owners are well aware of this fault with the flat. Itâs such a shame as the flat really is more than I could have wished for. Oh and please let people know that there is a Nespresso machine in the kitchen, I would have taken some pods if Iâd known.

Marina Vista in Weymouth is an amazing holiday apartment.
Iâd recommend it without hesitation to any type of guest. We travelled as a family of four (two kids aged 4 and 1.5 years) and found it perfect for our needs, but it would be equally suitable for couples, friends, or older families. When we entered the apartment, we were stunned by its size - itâs larger than we expected given its central location. It was comfortably furnished and nicely decorated. Everything felt new and very clean, and the place was bright and airy. We felt immediately relaxed and at home. It had everything you could possibly need for proper home cooking (should you desire it!), and it was excellently equipped for young children - we didnât need to bring anything other than a baby monitor and baby sleeping bag. It had a few bonus features that we werenât expecting, including a Nespresso machine, a child safety gate, and some childrenâs books and board games. All the other furnishings and amenities (bedding, towels etc) were ample and comfortable. It really made for stress-free (and reduced luggage!) travelling to have everything supplied. The location was fantastic: just a few minutes to walk to the main shopping street and the beach, with other attractions in comfortable walking distance. It was surprisingly quiet considering itâs location; the building and car park felt secure; and it felt like a safe area. We had a small incident in which we accidentally broke something, and a quick call to the property managers meant that it was resolved easily, without fuss, so we could just get on with enjoying our holiday. There was so much to do in easy walking/driving distance and we had a great time - thank you!

The property wasn't in a very good condition.
It wasn't particuarly clean, clearly some of the window sills hadn't been cleaned for a while as they had a layer of dust and dead insects on them. The property always got exceedingly hot and uncomfortable, air flow was poor and it needs better window coverings. It would definitely benefit from air conditioning. At times it felt like a greenhouse inside. The crockery was basic and again not in particaruly good condition, we actually went out to buy our own cups in the end so we could have a decent cuppa. Some of the pans, again, were not very clean. The cleanliness issue was the biggest one in the age of the pandemic. Ironically some comfort items, such as cushions, had been taken away because of pandemic hygiene protocol, but was completely cancelled by poor cleanliness in the areas described above. The plasterwork in the property was also poor, was cracked and peeling in many places which made it look quite uninviting. The TV were also small with poor sound. The private garden we had, annoyingly, wasn't accessible from the property directly, but had to be accessed through a side gate in the main parking area. This was annoying with letting the dog out. On the plus side, the bathrooms and beds were spacious and comfortable enough, and the property location was good. Upwey is a nice little village. Overall, the cost of the property was far higher than the quality of the experience and I would not recommend booking at its current cost range until some of the issues have have resolved.

There were a number of issues with our apartment.
We chose this apartment over one on the beach front because the other one said it would be noisy at night and with 2 children we didnât want this. However this apartment was extremely noisy. No where on the listing did you mention it is on the corner of 2 very busy roads, there was constant noise from outside all night, especially with drunk people shouting. This was not a suitable area for a family to stay. This kept all of us awake at multiple times throughout the night on many of our 7 nights. You need to amend your listing to be accurate. We had an issue with the windows. If we opened them slightly then the top window dropped and it was very awkward to get this to shut again tightly. This meant that we ended up not being able to open the windows. The cleanliness of this apartment was far below acceptable. The blinds were covered in thick dust, same for the edging in the en-suite bathroom. We wiped over the sides in the kitchen when we arrived and the antibacterial wipe was very dirty - this was from a kitchen side that was supposed to have been cleaned earlier that day. There was a used tissue on the floor at the end of one of the single beds when we arrived. Very disappointed and will not be staying with you again.

Overall our week was fairly pleasant, there is a lot of noise from the streets at night/ early morning as stated.
Unless very good double glazing was installed in the bedrooms, I would recommend ear plugs for light sleeper. Donât underestimate the fact they have stated noise from bustling centre! Especially weekends. However the apartment was nice, does need a good deep clean. Few items probably better to be replaced. Had everything you could possibly need, very spacious. Main bed wasnât very comfortable, could be solved with new mattress. Shower seemed to be blocked, anything more than a minute in there each time and it filled up, same with the toilet in the same space, We didnât chance using this toilet most of the week. Off road parking is ideal, could be fairly tight if all spaces were filled.. unless you had a very small car. We managed fine with our estate getting in and out luckily all bays werenât full. Very convenient for shops, beach and overall amenities, ideally located. For value for money canât complain, could only recommend for future of above stated replacements for a 100% feedback.
