What our customers say about their holidays

Lovely cottage, clean, bright and everything you need such as pots and pans.
Extra shower in the double bedroom was a real bonus as was the downstairs toilet. Ideal when there's a 3 and 6 year old in your party. Beautiful area so a good base to visit all the lovely places. Met the owners, they brought a garden parasol.... very nice people. Although they don't own it, Chris and Jen who look after the property live next door so are on hand with any problems or queries. Only negative is windows could do with a good clean inside and outside as there are a lot of cobwebs! We've stayed at a lot of cottages so please take my next points as tips, not criticism. 1....Next to a working farm so needs to have a magnetic fly screen as there are a lot of flies which causes a problem when the door to the garden is open. 2....The two single beds and the double bed were very comfy, however although the mattress is comfy, the king size bed base is too low and in my opinion needs replacing. It isn't a divan like the others and definitely isn't good for two adults. The slats underneath move every time you move or turn over so of course they part company with the sides of the bed and the mattress falls through. Chris temporarily rectified the problem by screwing the slats to the base but I doubt this will last. 3.....Be careful with dining chairs. Some are a bit rickety, especially one that has lats missing. We told the owners about this so they are aware. With a little TLC this could be 5 star accommodation but if no one notifies the owners or the couple next door they don't know. Would stay again, once the above points were sorted out. Think that's everything, now to look for next years accommodation

We had an amazing holiday at Hampton Lodge.
We came with our four adult children and two of their partners, so although we wanted to spend time together, we still needed the lodge to be big enough so we didn't feel on top of one another, and Hampton Lodge provided this. The lodge genuinely felt big enough for eight adults, with enough sofa space and space at the dining table for everyone. We couldn't fault the lodge, it was just perfect in every way and we had a lovely stay. It was exactly as advertised on Sykes, and the little extras like board games, badminton set, and table tennis ensured we always had plenty to do. The hot tub being under the veranda was great as it meant we could continue to enjoy it even when the weather was not great. We also couldn't have asked for a better location and there was plenty to do in the local area. We visited the aqueduct, hired a canal boat for the day, visited Hawkstone Park Follies and went white water rafting. Barbara was a great host, welcoming us with her amazing cake and providing lots of information about things to do nearby. All in all this is probably the best accommodation we have stayed in and everyone in our family had a great time, the week just flex by. I wouldn't hesitate to book again and I don't believe anyone would regret booking Hampton Lodge for their holiday.

Myself an 7 friends have just returned from an amazing weekend at Hampton Lodge.
The lodge itself exceeded our expectations, the setting was perfectâ¦you are literally in the middle of nowhere so for those of you wanting to get away from it all then look no furtherâ¦.the lodge was just beautiful an enough space for all of us 8â¦40 something gin drinking ladies. Barbara the host was so welcoming, she made us feel at home straight away, gave us lots of recommendations if we wanted to venture outâ¦and made us the most gorgeous Victoria sponge cake as a welcome gift. We had a trip out to Ellesmere where we ate at the lovely Meze (Greek Restaurant) the food was amazing an they staff there was so lovely too, then we found a fab little bar call the Vault which had live music on (Saturday night) really good atmosphere an highly recommended if you do venture out of the lovely lodge. Iâve got to mention Pete the taxi driverâ¦Tennant taxisâ¦his number is in the information book provided at the lodgeâ¦Pete who we renamed Cliff (donât ask) was so accommodating with usâ¦he did numerous trips ferrying us back an tooâ¦lovely guy. We absolutely had the best time here and have already put our dates in for next year. Thanks Barbara for a memorable weekendâ¦.see you next year!!

We had a fabulous time at Hampton lodge.
It was a family get together as we are all spread about the country. The setting is really rural which is so peaceful, and there was lovely walks straight from the lodge, even along the county roads as they hardly have any cars going by. There was plenty of local amenities nearby in Ellesmere just a few miles away, and a great pub called sun inn at Welshampton which you can walk to (2 miles). The lodge itself is very well presented. We loved that it was mostly all on one level so we felt very together. The hot tub was fantastic! You didnât have to go beyond the veranda to get in it so it was an any weather activity as itâs fully covered but has great views of the sunset. The hosts were wonderful, friendly and made us feel very welcome. Another great point for us is that it is disability friendly, my mum has mobility issues but due to it all being on the ground floor this was no problem and she still felt very much part of the group and could take her scooter on walks along the country lanes with us all. We will definitely return. Thankyou!

The location was lovely with fantastic country views, the beds were very comfortable and the level layout was ideal for small children to run around.
The pool was an additional bonus. However, we pre-ordered a click and collect shop only to find a single, very small freezer available at the property totally insufficient for a party of 16. They was plenty plate, bowls and cups but a large number of these were covered in food residue, we ended washing all the crockery before we felt we were able to use it. The property is in need of a good clean and maintenance. Some door surrounds and latches were hanging off. Carpets could do with a clean, cobwebs and spiders everywhere particularly noticeable on the dirty glass light in the dining room. Quite a few of the windows didn't open, particularly in the kitchen and on our last morning a torrential downpour on the tennis court side of the house saw a large amount of rain coming in around the window frames in the lounge and dining areas, we needed to use tea towels to soak up the puddles. It wouldn't take much for this property to be brought up to really nice standard, just a bit of love. It already benefits from fantastic views and a really relaxed atmosphere
