What our customers say about their holidays
Mrs Wymer - Verified booking
Lovely location step out of the property onto the coastal path and onto the all year round dog friendly beach, the view from the property is fabulous you can see the beach and sea and there is also a lovely little garden with furniture to relax on on those hot sunny days. Walk 10 minutes along the beach and you come to a nice little cafe and the Sailors rest pub serving food all day or if you fancy it Fish and chips in the local chip shop. There is also a nature reserve at the end of the beach for those interested, helps to have a car if you want to go exploring nearby towns and villages and the costal towns are fabulous. The property itself needs updating as it’s tired and the cleaning could have been better, the seating is a bit strange not enough relaxing seating for the amount of people accommodated for but ample if not to much dining seating. There was however everything we needed for our stay plenty of cooking equipment and crockery and the welcome pack was much appreciated and little touches like gift toiletries. We stayed in May when in other parts of the country and some Suffolk towns don’t allow dogs on the beach between May- Sept Kessingland beach is an all year round dog friendly beach so ideal for those taking their canine family with them to explore.

We had a great one week stay at Carisbrooke, Steve and Maureen were fabulous hosts. On arrival they had baked us bread, cake and a rhubarb crumble all very delicious plus they had left us some eggs from their allotment and homemade jam. The house is a good size, well laid out, quiet, comfortable, nicely furnished with everything you could possibly need. The bedroom were comfy and plenty of hot water and decent showers! The kitchen is really well equipped, we cooked a few nights but also had a few take aways, the fish and chips shop is just down the road. The garden gets the sun in the afternoon and the hot tub was great after a day of exploring. Important to note that to get the pizza oven going there is an extra charge as well as the fire place in the lounge. We walked along Pakefield beach one day all the way to Kessingland (some steep steps leading up to a cliff top where you can have lunch overlooking the north sea), beautiful clean beach our daughter enjoyed searching for sea glass and shells. Lots of friendly dog walkers and the beach is sand and pebbles. Days out included Southwold, Alderburgh (best fish and chips is here), Holt, Thrigby Hall, (great wildlife park) Norwich, Thorpeness. Loved our stay in Suffolk and would recommend Carisbrook for future bookers.

The Howes Family - Verified booking
What a lovely house for our family to get together to celebrate my husband's 65th birthday. Our 3 grandchildren thought the house was amazing! Our older granddaughter (7) thought it was like a castle! They particularly enjoyed the hot tub and trampoline. Trips to Southwold pier, brewery, Lighthouse and shops were a big hit. Our boat trip to Oulton Broad was interesting but we did get cold! Trips to Sole Bay for a seafood lunch (Southwold) was excellent also Aldeburgh, Walberswick, Blythburgh church and White Hart pub and of course - Minsmere. Forgot to mention Dunwich beach and fish and chips at the Flora Tearooms - fab. What a pity the weather was disappointing. Something you can't organise! Thank you.

We are a family of 6 adults and two children and thought the house was delightful, full of character and tastefully furnished - though the low doorways were a problem at times! The large private garden was great for the kids with swings and a full sized trampoline. The vine covered covered outdoor area was perfect for enjoying meals al fresco (especially when there was a shower of rain!) and the hot tub was fun for us all. The location was good for Southwold and Walberswick beaches and we enjoyed a tasty meal in the village pub. We would also recommend trying some of the meats and pies from the village store!

This property has everything you need, the kitchen is well stocked including washing up liquid, the dining room and lounge are comfortable, there is very good WiFi, and the tv has Netflix/Amazon prime. The owners are right next door and there if you need them. They had lots of local knowledge and left us a lovely welcome gift with milk, eggs and home baked bread and cakes. The property is behind gates that are closed at night so safe, private and really quiet. You can walk to a bus stop in 10 minutes to get a bus into Lowestoft, Kessingland or Southwold. This was a lovely property that we would recommend.
