What our customers say about their holidays

Wow! Fantastic accommodation, beautiful quiet location, and fabulous weather, we had the most brilliant week staying here.
The Lodge has everything you could possibly need, and all top quality. Even better than the photographs, and it felt like home straight away. A much appreciated welcome pack on arrival (thank you). The guest folders were really easy to refer to. We did quite a few of the walks the owners had suggested, and walked to the Martlet Inn (dog friendly) for a lovely hearty lunch. The Lodge is a great base to explore the area, we went to Bossington and walked to Porlock for lunch at the Ship Inn. Lynmouth/Lynton, Wells, Glastonbury Tor, Dunster Castle (and village), Wellington Monument and Dunkery Beacon all definitely worth visiting, as well as so many other places to walk on the moors and Quantock Hills. Worth noting that the garden is a great size for dogs to run around in, although it isnât totally dog proof, but the weather was so good that we were out and about most of the time, so didnât spend a huge amount of time at the Lodge until the evenings. We loved watching the bats at dusk, and had a couple of stunning sunsets, a blood moon, and some clear starry skies ⦠perfect viewing from the hot tub if you turn the outside lights off. We wouldnât hesitate to recommend staying at the Lodge, and we would definitely book again if returning to the area. One of the best holiday cottages weâve stayed in.

The location was great and most of the cottage facilities were good, but there were some annoying problems.
The WiFi connection was very bad - our phones kept being disconnected and the TV connection to Netflix etc was impossible as it wouldn't stay connected. The oven didn't work (the knob seemed broken) so we only had use of the grill. In the main shower the head was too high and it was impossible to move (the piping came away when we tried) - this is annoying when someone of my wife's height (4' 11") wanted to shower but not wash her hair. The outside light by the back door didn't work. The radiators downstairs leaked. There was a continuous awful smell from, we believe, the oil tank and this permeated into the downstairs bedroom The owner did visit us but he only seemed interested in showing us the hot tub despite us saying we were not going to use it. It would be hard for the living room to comfortably sit 7 people even though the property is advertised for that amount. What was good was the location, the fenced in area for the dog, and the cleanliness of the property. This does seem like very negative feedback but we did enjoy our stay and these are relatively minor issues that could easily be addressed by the owner.

Lovely property.
Andy was very helpful and available if needed. Excellent cafe (The Rocking Horse) at the end of the lane. Great steam railway in the local village that we used several times to get to places rather than driving. The property itself was fantastic. We asked Andy if he could move the beds around to suit our requirements which he happily did before our arrival. Fantastic views. The hot tub, garden and bbq were a welcome addition. Only a couple of suggestions - a better mirror in the en-suite bathroom, and a mirror in the downstairs bedroom would have been useful, as well as some shelving in the shower to put all your stuff on rather than putting it on the floor. I think there should also have been a hair dryer in the downstairs bedroom but that was missing. Minor gripe, there is a livery stables next to the property so quite a lot of coming and going, cars driving to and from, but on the upside it was lovely to be able to watch the horses in the field! All in all we had a wonderful, relaxing holiday, and I would highly recommend this property.

We have just returned from a Friday to Friday booking in Court Lodge.
The house is situated in a quiet and tranquil lane a little outside Wiveliscombe which has a small amount of amenities. The house is extremely well planned with plenty of ProCook kitchenware; the owners have thought of absolutely everything (and more!) that you may need. The hot tub is excellent and a lovely way to watch the bats flitting around at dusk. There were plenty of good quality towels and lovely linen supplied and when we arrived the house was absolutely spotless. We had taken our dog with us who is a roving Spaniel; the garden and driveway is secure enough that she wasn't able to escape (although I'm sure she could've done if she'd put her mind to it!). It isn't listed but there is also a BBQ to use which would've been lovely if the weather had been better. If you're looking for a very tranquil week with no disruptions in a 'high end hotel quality' cottage then I can't recommend this enough.

Court lodge was a delight to stay in.
The owner went out of his way before we arrived to help make our stay over Christmas perfect and gave us a warm welcome. The guest manual is detailed and very helpful. The views are simply stunning, the closeness to nature inspiring and the inside of the lodge is very comfortable with super bathrooms, and quality furnishings, the kitchen exceptionally well equipped. Watching the migrating birds at sunset from the hot tub, even in December, was memorable. The position is rural but didnât feel isolated and the fairly short drive to the nearest shops a small price to pay for the tranquility of the lodgeâs surroundings. A wonderful world away from the stresses of daily life. Thoroughly recommend.
