What our customers say about their holidays

We were greeted by owls hooting in the trees as we arrived in this special place on Friday afternoon. Wer loved being surrounded by the trees which encouraged the birds to visit us daily. Yes we've seen them all including the seeming resident nuthatch. It has been a thrill to discover North Norfolk at this beautiful time of year. We have been so blessed with warm sunny days which have shown off all the autumn hues. We foraged sweet chestnuts and roasted them in the open fire - such a treat and so delicious. Titchwell RSPB didn't disappoint, and neither NWT Cley Marshes. We had six sightings of the marsh harrier including diving for the kill and launching back up to the skies with a duck in its talons! It was quite a struggle between them and the duck obviously was too heavy for him - we're not sure how the duck fared in the end! Also in the skies this week have been the RAF fighter jets - soaring and roaring daily during the working week! Blickling House (National Trust) is worth a visit. The beaches are lovely to walk and we particularly enjoyed Wells-next-the-Sea. Thank you for sharing this lovely home with us. It is surprisingly cosy. Its quirky furnishings bring a smile and it has been a most enjoyable stay. Thanks for the good standard of housekeeping, but there are only two teaspoons in the cutlery drawer. (note from owner - thank's for letting us know... all will be replaced) All the above makes us want to return some day. Thank you once again.

A beautiful house full of character and old-fashioned charm. Thoughtfully furnished with lots of railway related items. Beautiful, peaceful garden filled with wildlife. Very much enjoyed a morning pot of tea at the lunge table watching the birds on the feeder and listening to the radio. Evenings spent by the open fire with a glass of wine (thank you!) were perfect for our autumn stay.Bath tub in the cupboard very much enjoyed by our eight-year-old son, as were the toys and delightfully decorated twin bedroom. Crabbing equipment very handy for our visit to Wells! Everything clean and tidy in the house, including fresh smelling bedding and towels. Garden well tended before our stay too. Kitchen small but well-equipped and utility very handy. Please to have bird feed provided – our son enjoyed filling up the bird feeder each morning. Yes – the smell of pigs is not great but we did not let it bother us.We visited Wells-next-the-Sea for crabbing and the excellent Two Magpies Bakery. Cromer for the arcades, fish ‘n’ chips and pebble collecting on the beach. A visit to Muckleburgh Military Collection on a rainy day was really enjoyable for our son – lots to see. A ride on the miniature steam railway from Wells to Walsingham was a good thing to do for children and those wanting to visit Walsingham. We have really enjoyed out stay at Station House and hope to return again in a warmer time of year. Thank you!

We've been staying at Station House nearly every year since 2018 - we love it! Visiting from London means we get to escape the city life, switch off and relax as soon as we arrive. The location is perfect for day trips to Wells-next-the-Sea (to eat chips on the harbour), to Cromer (to spend our pennies in the arcades) and to visit the extensive grounds of Houghton Hall (rare white deer!)We also made sure to pencil in time to just hang out in the house, throw some fancy ready meals in the microwave then eat them sat in the garden watching the birds. We've seen all sorts; robins, swallows, frogs, and not forgetting the deer!Visiting in the September means we also treat ourselves to a roaring fire, a cup of tea, and there's even an Amazon Firestick meaning we can keep on top of watching our favourite television programmes. If you fancy giving your designated a break, you can walk to The Crown pub in East Rudham in just over an hour, treat yourself to a pint and amble back along the lanes - perfect afternoon treat!Station House makes the perfect base to explore the area but is a highlight in itself - I'm always stealing design ideas from here! Hope to be back again soon.

Station House has an enchanted garden. Sitting on the bench we could hear a variety of owls hooting at dusk. In addition there was a stag bellowing in the adjacent forest – a stag we were lucky enough to see in the lane the next day!! The garden is also home to at least one muntjac deer and on our very first night we saw a very healthy little hedgehog winding its way across the lawn. Who knows what else this enchanting garden might be home to. Well a great many birds – all manner of tits, robins, nuthatches and a lot more beside. We refilled the feeders and invested in some hedgehog food to make sure these endangered and very precious creatures had a good breakfast! Highlights of our time were seeing the Knot murmurations at Snettisham RSPB reserve. We also took the deer safari at Holkham Hall which allowed us to get up close to the 500 fallow deer. An eating highlight was lunch at the lovely Sculthorpe Mill. But the undisputed centrepiece of this holiday was The Station House. So homely, so quirky and so cosy. What a wonderful place to return to after a day out. We shed a tear when we left, and hope to return.
