Just a short walk from the centre of Keswick, explore this bustling town s array of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs, visit the famous Pencil Museum or head for the King Kong Climbing Wall. Just 1 mile away lies the magnificent Derwentwater, around which a scenic 8 mile walk can be enjoyed. Or, for a more leisurely experience, hop on the Keswick Launch which stops at the seven landing stages around the lake, allowing you to visit the likes of Fawe Park, Derwent Island and Lodore Falls. With so much to see and do in the local area, visit the mysterious Castlerigg Stone Circle 2 miles above the town, head underground at Honister Slate Mine, 9 miles away, or don your hiking boots to take on nearby Skiddaw, just 5 miles away. Accessed by stone steps, this is a wonderful suntrap in the evenings, perfect for an al fresco drink as the sun goes down (please note: there is a significant difference of level in the garden and young children should not be left unsupervised).
