Guests say

Stanfree House is a cosy and comfortable cottage in the picturesque village of Winster, appreciated for its convenient location and friendly locals. Guests have enjoyed the well-stocked village shop, nearby pubs, and the property's proximity to Peak District attractions. The beds are frequently praised for their comfort, and the cottage's rustic charm adds to the overall experience.

Cleanliness has received mixed feedback. While some guests found the cottage clean and cosy, others noted issues with cleanliness in the lounge, kitchen, and under furniture. The presence of dog hair and a smelly vacuum were specific concerns.

The location is highly praised for its beauty and convenience, with a well-stocked shop across the road and pubs within walking distance. However, some guests noted noise from the street as a minor drawback.

Guests have consistently remarked on the comfortable beds and cosy atmosphere of the cottage. The warmth of the property and the presence of a log fire have contributed positively to the comfort level.

Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and powerful shower. However, some guests mentioned the need for better lighting, cleaner kitchen utensils, and maintenance issues like a leak and non-working lights in the bathroom.

While some guests appreciated the thoughtful touches like information packs and a courtesy text, there is no mention of gifts, and therefore it cannot be confirmed if such gestures are a regular occurrence. As such, it is politely noted that gifts are not guaranteed.

About this property

A mid-terrace stone cottage located in the heart of Winster, a homely village with an abundance of characterful amenities resting on your doorstep. Situated over three floors, this retreat takes you inside to a comfortable lounge, neutrally styled with two sofas and a woodburner promising a cosy night in. A dining table is located to the back of the room, with seating for four people, and a window seat is a beautiful feature overlooking the charming village. The modern kitchen provides all the amenities to prepare your favourite meals. On a nice day, you can even enjoy refreshments in your own enclosed courtyard, a lovely little suntrap away from it all. After a delightful day, wander upstairs to the super king-size double bedroom, an immaculate presentation with soft furnishings and a heart-warming ambience. Take the stairs from here, and you will find a twin room, equally as pleasant, with fresh white bedding and characterful low ceilings. The family bathroom completes the accommodation in a contemporary fashion. The village of Winster is famous for its Morris dancers, Wakes festivities in June, and the Secret Gardens of Winster event in July. There are also two pubs, both serving traditional beer. Bakewell, Matlock, Chatsworth House, and the Peak Rail Steam Railway are all nearby and, for keen walkers and cyclists, The Limestone Way runs along the edge of the village. A perfect location all-season-round.

With an impressive 17th century market house at its centre, the conservation village of Winster is situated within the Peak District National Park. This extremely pretty location is mostly composed of three main streets - Main Street, East Bank and West Bank boasting imposing 18th Century farm houses, nearly all of which are at least three storeys tall.
