A stay at Two Towers Cottage promises the best of Somerset.
The historic, medieval Somerset village of Montacute is four miles from Yeovil and most well known for the National Trust's impressive Montacute House, a stunning Elizabethan mansion built for Sir Edward Phelips, the prosecutor of Guy Fawkes. The house is set in beautiful gardens and has been widely used as a film set, notably in 'Sense and Sensibility' and 'Wolf Hall'. The village centre and conservation area features an array of picturesque hamstone cottages, two thriving pubs, a Post Office, and a fascinating radio and television museum. Locally, there are lovely walks to be had to the nearby Ham Hill and St Michael's Hill where a folly affords wonderful views across the Somerset Levels and beyond. The nearby bustling town of Yeovil provides a wide variety of shops and restaurants as well as a lively theatre. Alternatively, enjoy a day out at Yeovilton's Fleet Air Arm Museum, or Haynes Motor Museum, explore mystical Glastonbury, or the UK's smallest city, Wells, with its majestic cathedral. With ancient Sherborne and the scenic Dorset coastline both easily accessible, you will find that a week is not nearly long enough to enjoy everything on offer within a short drive of this lovely Somerset village!

Only addition might be more pans/ wok, as we like to eat in. But a great place to stay and we really enjoyed having such a relaxing holiday in an excellent house.

Everything was so clean & fresh. We spent a lot of time in the lovely garden. It was full of colour & is a real sun trap. The kitchen had everything we needed. The bed was comfy & we loved the huge fluffy towels. The cottage is so close to everything in the village. Montacute House is certainly worth a visit & there's loads to see & do there. The only useful additions we could think of for the cottage are, possibly: a small shelf/tray in the shower for shower gel/shampoo etc; a table lamp in the lounge; and maybe a cupboard door to cover the meter & wires in the lounge. We really enjoyed our relaxing stay in this lovely listed building in the quiet, historical village of Montacute.

The garden was beautiful and with a gorgeous view. Ideal situation in the pretty village of Montecute, with 2 great pubs and of course Montecute House. No negatives but would suggest having a table lamp in the sitting room rather than just an overhead light. Also the shower would benefit from having a shelf for shower gel, shampoo etc.
