Guests consistently praise the cottage for its cleanliness, cosy atmosphere, and stunning seaside location. The property offers a tranquil escape with the soothing sounds of the sea. The well-equipped kitchen and thoughtful touches, such as a welcoming bottle of wine and tea cakes, are frequently mentioned. While some guests noted the low ceilings and narrow staircase, the charm and comfort of the cottage generally outweigh these concerns.
Reviews frequently commend the property for its cleanliness, with several guests specifically noting the spotless condition on arrival. One review mentioned it was not very clean, but this seems to be an isolated comment.
The location is highly praised for its unique and tranquil seaside setting, with many guests enchanted by the proximity to the sea and the picturesque village. The steep access road is noted, but does not detract significantly from the overall positive feedback.
The majority of guests find the cottage comfortable and cosy, especially appreciating the log fire and sea sounds. However, a few guests mention the low ceilings and narrow staircase as potential discomforts, particularly for taller individuals or those with mobility issues.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with the cottage being described as well-equipped and having amenities like Wi-Fi and Netflix. There is a single mention of a wood burner using too much wood and pans not being clean, but these are minor compared to the overall positive feedback.
Guests often mention and appreciate the thoughtful touches, such as welcome gifts, which contribute to the welcoming atmosphere of the cottage. It should be noted that such gestures, while common, are at the discretion of the owners and not guaranteed.
A characterful and quirky fisherman's cottage nestling between the base of the cliffs at the rear and the open sea to the front in the small village of Crovie. A pathway runs along the shoreline giving pedestrian access to this row of charming cottages and the hustle and bustle of daily life is left far behind! 49 Crovie Village is a typical cottage with its gable end to the sea and quirky interior and would be ideal for a couple or small family group who want to spend carefree days walking along the rocky foreshore, watching the wonderful wildlife and soaking up the special uniqueness of the location. There are two lovely bedrooms on the first floor both with sloping ceilings and skylight windows and the ground floor is modern and spacious. A lovely open plan and well-equipped kitchen/dining room leads through to a cosy sitting room with a welcoming woodburning stove ensuring cosy nights in around the fire after an active day. There are no local services in Crovie but the neighbouring and larger village of Gardenstown is just over a mile away and here there is a well-stocked village shop and local pub/restaurant. A very pleasant walk on a good day is following the path from Crovie to Gardenstown to pick up essentials and then a return journey with different views. The north east coast is dotted with many villages and small towns all worth a visit and the bigger towns of Banff and MacDuff offer excellent local services. For wildlife lovers a visit to the RSPB reserve at Troup Head is a must and of course boat trips onto the Moray Firth will ensure a good view of the famous dolphins as they pass by. This is a special cottage in a unique location ensuring an unforgettable holiday for all.
The small village of Crovie is not only pretty but is also quite unique as here the use of motor cars is discouraged and access to the single line of cottages is via a path that borders the sea. Vehicles are left at a nearby car park. At one time a busy fishing village it is now a peaceful retreat for visitors who love the charm and gentle ambience of the community. Crovie faces west onto the Moray Firth and in the summer fabulous sunsets can be enjoyed whilst in the winter months the Northern Lights can sometimes be seen. Although a real retreat Crovie is close to the many atmospheric fishing villages all along the north east coastline each with their own history and well worth a visit.
