Swanage on the Jurassic Coast is a traditional seaside town overlooking a spectacular bay with views of the Isle of Wight. The gently shelving, golden sandy beach regularly wins the Blue Flag status. Diving, sailing and swimming are all popular recreational activities taking place from Swanage Bay.
The coastline surrounding Swanage is considered of national and international ecological and geological importance. Dinosaur remains have been found in this area leading to a significant archaeological interest in the region. A wonderful pier scattered with benches allows for pretty views across the water.
Swanage is the home to the Anvil Lighthouse, situated in the grounds of natural oasis Durlston Country Park. It was opened in 1881 by Neville Chamberlain's father - and we just so happen to have it listed here at Last Minute Cottages. That's right; the lighthouse is available for your weekend break! Not only that, but Swanage plays host to the Swanage Carnival once a year, every August. It's a week long event that starts with fireworks and ends in a parade, perfect for a celebratory trip.
Life can be hectic. Sometimes spending weeks planning the perfect holiday isn't on the cards. Well, at Last Minute Cottages, we understand. We put thousands of stunning last-minute properties at your fingertips, catering to every kind of UK getaway, however soon you want to leave.
